Brad Treliving has done a really solid job of keeping the Flames out of any sort of retool or rebuild with these off season moves. Now we just need to see how it works out on the ice next season.

I'm an Oilers fan and I'm excited by this. I miss the days of when Alberta was the called the "Valley of Death," and the fact that people actually do wanna sign in Calgary means people will want to sign in Edmonton too. I think Pelletier has got to be 3rd line with Backlund and Dube. Backlund is the perfect centre to pair a rookie winger with to teach him defensive responsibility and two way play. That being said, I don't think the Flames are done. They have a ton of defensive depth they can weaponize for some more help up front, and they still need to make a bit more cap space.

I have been working stage jobs at the saddledome since last Oct and they had the 1st lines photos in the lower level, I wondered hey where is Monahan? then I found out due to his injuries he was centering the fourth line, he was finally the big first line centre Iginla needed, but never got. I'm glad they did get rid of Moneyhands, as his injuries took a toll. I was surprised Tkachuk and Gudreau left, as soon as I found out and had a gig at the dome I looked for his photo, but it was removed quickly. I didn't think Matt would leave, he seemed like a fan favourite, I'm happy we got Kadri as we know have 1a and 1b for centres, Lucic would be great to lose or retire. Hopefully we get a lot of good years out of Kadri, Backlund could be a good 3rd line centre, he's been there before, will he pout having to go back? I don't know. I'm more of a Hawks fan and again like Gudreau, can not believe they lost Debrincat.

I will take Kadri, he’s good and he replaces Tkachuk for the Physicality part. I do think the contract won’t be the greatest in 3-5 years, but We are trying to stay a competitive team right now. So I think these are probably the best moves Brad Treliving could’ve done this off-season after losing Gaudreau, Tkachuk

No he doesn’t…… it’s like saying he’s a replacement for Marchand. He’s not. He’s a decent replacement but won’t be nearly as good as chucky

If you told me back in 2018ish that Calgary would not have Gaudreau, Tkachuk, and Monahan, and not be a complete dumpster fire, I would not have believed you in the slightest. Solid work from GMBT

For being in full panic mode they ended up in good shape. They do seem to be a bit weaker offensively though, see how that plays out for them.

I’ve always felt that Backlund fit so much better as a 3C. Their center depth is the best it’s been in a very long time, possibly ever.

Oilers fan here. Great moves by Calgary this summer after losing both Goo and Chucky. I have to say they're (at least on paper) a better team than last year. Huberdreau and Kadri are character guys and should play well within Sutters system. The long term contracts for both are not good but Calgary is in win mode now and should help the Flames for the next 3 seasons. Things got interesting for the BoA and I'm excited. I'm happy both teams are competitive and we need both teams pushing each other to be better. Go Oilers Go!

To me, Calgary is taking a step back but they seemed in dire need of a shakeup of their core. It seems like they got softer at forward. Definitely a different direction. I have no dog in the fight, so this is just an outsider looking in.

Gotta wonder what ages better, what Benning saddled Vancouver with (OEL) or Treliving for Calgary (Kadri).
@ilai7893
@ilai7893 Жыл бұрын
@@oscargoldman4867 idk, both are now 31 years old, OEL makes $7.26 for 5 years, Kadri is $7 * 7. Reason I ask is, after looking at Jamie Benn and how he fell off in his early mid 30s (from 79 pts/ 82 gm to 46/ 82 at 33 years old), the longer term into the 30s probably doesn't bode all that well for a physical guy like Kadri, whereas I think OEL with his smarts could still be solid in his own end, but to quote THG, "love to hear your thoughts as ALWAYS"

I feel bad for Mony, hard to believe he was in the same draft class as MacKinnon and even Lindholm and even led that class in goals for the first few years. Hope his career gets back on track with Montreal. What a summer for Treliving! Can’t wait to see what Sutter can do with this team.

5 bucks says CGY places higher than EDM in the Pacific Division this upcoming year. I mean come on! First they get Johnny Huberdeau and Mackenzie Weegar, albeit in exchange for one of their most talented players, and now this! Kadri just came off the Cup victory in Denver. Quite a rebuilding going on there.

I change my mind... former first line is gone, but they were probably not returning to previous form with Monaghan's injuries. Huberdeau and Toffoli are a pretty effective 1st line. Flames have retooled pretty well. They look like a playoff team. Not winning the Pacific, but they'll get in.
