To be fair if one of my bestest friends suddenly became a monster in that setting, my first suspicion is either its it killed my best buddy and taken his/her place or it infected them.

This scene is so perfectly made, it made me feel exactly how I felt while reading the manga, hands down best scene, but a bit sad, Mina referring to him as Kaiju No. 8 and not Kafka, her childhood friend made me really upset

People are so upset that he was detained, but you have to understand the characters perspective here. This kaiju literally just turned it's limbs into thrusterd and sent a mass of kaijus so far in the air thst 20 kilotons of tnt detonating didnt kill them. We know what Kafka's thinking, he's doing it to save them, everyone else, does not know that. It's much easier to believe that a kaiju - the thing thats been terrorising and murdering humans indiscriminately- was acting to protect itself, rather than to protect humans

Honestly i dont blame the defense force for trying to capture him since at the end of the day, hes still a kaiju and nothing will change that. Its their job to exterminate kaiju and if they let someone as dangerous has No.8 go while hes weakened they might as well be replaced as harsh as it sounds Its honestly good that they didnt take advantage of his weakened state and immediately open fire (which they totally could), instead opting to detain him

This really just remind me of One Punch Man when no one knew saitama’s power. Honestly, I’m pretty satisfied with how this was handled.

People are being too hard on Mina and the others for the arrest. Yeah he saved them but I don’t think she became captain of the defence force by taking unnecessary risks. The only transforming Kaiju they know about is Kaiju no. 9 which, far as I can tell, was a Kaiju from the beginning who transformed into humans. For all they know the “real” Kafka was killed by a similar Kaiju that took his place. Most people there have had their families and homes destroyed by Kaiju. Honestly them even being willing to not shoot him on sight is a miracle. There’s too much they don’t know. No idea what’s gonna happen next but this is a heartbreaking yet necessary decision on all sides. Can’t wait to see where it leads!

I just started watching this and man I genuinely love this anime

Honestly, I'm very happy that this happened because once they grace him (somehow) it means that he no longer has to hide. I was getting tired of seeing him use his power only at the very end every time. Giving useful info about Kaijus is cool and all but if the Kaijus are getting stronger, no way they keep winning without him going 100%, just like here actually (they would have lost in the end).

♦️ To people being overly edgy and nihilistic : Any reasonable persons, living in that setting, first though could be that some Kaiju had taken the place of theyr friend, like a Doppleganger, or infected him with some virus/parasite. It could even be your very own mother, but lack of reaction in situation like this could end up in everyone on scene dying / being infected.

To the people who think it’s cruel they did this to him: they literally just learnt that a Kaiju that can turn into a human exists, and their friend turned into a Kaiju right in front of them, of course they’re going to do that. But since it was someone they knew that transformed, they instead held him into custody rather than just shoot him.

Did any of y'all even watch the latest episode after seeing this? ANYONE?!?! Well if you didn't.... Here's a spoiler cuz alot of y'all like ruining anime like this. They actually DON'T hate him. Infact all them; yes including Mina and Hoshina, want him back and worry about him because he's basically the heart of the 3rd division and they even try to prove his innocence in the next ep. Picture this. There are reports of Kaiju that can turn into humans and can even eat them to become them. Now a good friend who is your own squad just turned into a very powerful Kaiju. You can't possibly be certain that it's still your friend and not a Kaiju who killed him to be him. Unless you're one of these guys, it's most likely gonna be the worst case scenario. I just don't understand why people like to hate on this anime. It's funny, serious, action packed and emotional at times. I'm reading the manga right now and I find no problem with the different art styles. Heck I don't even see the difference in some panels and some scenes in the anime were a massive improvement from the source. And if you're mad at me for saying that, CRY ABOUT IT!!! Don't go around scaring off potential watchers with your nonsense and just let them enjoy something their interested in.
