If you have swept all memories of the Kaiser Chiefs and their plethora of earworm songs into some forgotten corner of your brain, it's time to do some serious memory digging. Coachella alone should have proved that the Brit-rock quintet still have some serious fight left in them, but if you still need to be convinced that their catchy-as-hell tunes are worth revisiting, this video of their gig at 9:30 Club in Washington should do the trick.
If the crowd had any fears about whether the Kaisers could pull off a show with the same relentless energy as they did circa 2007, they were soon quashed when the band burst into an explosive rendition of opener 'Every Day I Love You Less'. But by the time you realised you shouldn't have doubted them in the first place they were already bombarding your eardrums with glorious noughties sing-a-long gems like 'Never Miss A Beat'.
The Kaisers' latest offerings have gotten mixed reviews as they have injected a much darker vibe into their music that wasn't quite there on previous albums. Still, the shimmering indie-pop sound and infectious beats that we grew to love in songs like 'Ruby' are there to drive you into a frenzy of arm-waving, and when they broke into the brooding, synth-funk laden 'Little Shocks' a couple of songs into the set, it was met with a very positive response from the crowd. Then again, when a frontman is as engaging and spontaneous as Ricky Wilson, it's hard not to get into the groove of things whether the song is familiar or not.
If the Kaiser Chiefs set out to prove they still have "it" in bucket loads, there are two words that were probably on the lips of everyone at the show by the end of the night: mission accomplished.

In response to the description, Kaiser Chiefs came to South Africa as an opening for foo fighters. FF were amazing. They were like gods, but I would've totally paid the same ticket price just to see the Kaiser Chiefs' 45 minute opening set. They were epic. Full of energy, dedicated to the crowd and just generally a flawless performance. What a bunch of lads.

I've always wondered if Americans know who these guys are because unless I missed it, I don't think they ever cracked the US charts. I'm from England, UK and these guys are pretty underrated! A very good band considering they are just an indie band.

Yeah, I know who they are! I love Britpop, (as you can see). Americans don't listen to music, they listen to garbage. I just happen to be an American whom is the exception.

They so need Nick back.. Guess he was sick of the road and bought a pub.. He's a good vocalist and a far better drummer than dude they have now. Vijay, is that his name?

Joe Salles Drums Yeah it’s not the same anymore when the originals leave. Replacements can’t do it as well, fucking hate when that happens

I can't believe I am saying this but I haven't seen them since Nick left & I get after show passes. Just been too I'll to go. I am still in touch with Nick though.
