Such a funky tune in parts, with such fine and apt, minor chord changes, especially, early on in the tune. Kajagoogo's best, in my opinion.

The rest of Kaja wanted to be more professional and do more advance music whereas Limahl wanted to stay the same and keep making pop singles.

I was mocking them when I was 19, now I am stunned by them in my 49. Electro funk at it weirdest. How come this weird kind of music was at charts is still mistery to me. Nick Beggs is a killer on bass. Wish this was covered by Grace Jones. Now I see how much talented they were. Amazing.

Would have been a top 3 hit if it hadn't been up against some really strong singles like Let's Dance, Beat It, Sweet Dreams, etc. Not as weird as Ghosts by Japan which was in the charts about a year earlier.

I think this is prior to when he picked up the Chapman stick but i am not sure. This bassline could have been done with the stick. Synth arr. also cool even by todays computerized standards. Song? ...well.

This was one of my favorites during the summer of '83. I was 14 at the time. I remember pretty well 'cause we used to play 'disco bar' in my friend's attic. Another favorite of mine that same summer was the B-side of Duran's 'Is there something I should know', called 'Faith in this color'. It's an instrumental track. Years later (like 10) I suspected the Stereo MC's of being inspired by its break, when they came up with 'Step it up'.....

I've been pondering this video's meaning for many, many years. And I think it has mostly to do with egotism, and how wealth can contribute to that (check the lyrics). When it comes to Nick's 'shadow man,' I think--again--that's the ego. Shadow Man causes Nick to stumble, crash, and burn in every situation here. In so many instances in this video, egos and expectations of fame and wealth are dashed. In the end, all are LITERALLY reduced to rubble, in the metaphorical earthquake!

I've been baffled for almost 40 years over this video. Nick Beggs was/is deeply religious so there may be some religious angle to the iconology as there were in many of the later Kajagoogoo songs.

Dismissed them at 8, respect them at 48. A band that was steered initially very well by Llahmal seemed to get lost by the 3rd album and its a shame in a way they couldnt get to enjoy the same success. But they did reunite eventuality and itvwas good to see them altogether again.I hope they do something this year for 40 year's, it would be a waste otherwise. Here's hoping

For some reason, the first half of 1983 featured a lot of very quirky and unusual pop songs like this. Others were Last Film by Kissing The Pink, Person To Person by The Hypothetical Prophets, Blind Vision by Blancmange.

If you're an amateur bass player of a certain vintage like myself, Stanley Clarkes 'School Days' remains the Holy Grail - another 70 years practice required - but Nicks bassline in Ooh to Be Ah really, really should be practiced. A LOT! And I DO mean a LOT....... still first-class fantastic!
