Japan knows how to blend genres like no other country. I stand to be corrected. And those creators/composers do this with genres you wouldn't even think of, yet somehow get it to work. They have immense imaginations, fed with inputs (musical, artistic, cultural) from other parts of the world and they create new expressions of what we've known before, e.g. Babymetal, Perfume, Waggaki Band, to name a few (actually the ones I currently love). I only discovered *Kalafina* like last month, and they are already my favourite female singing trio, period. You are right. It's a sort of Phantom of the Opera, story-telling, sometimes-acappella, operatic pop rock group. I love their vocal layers, the exchanges, the dynamics, and their voices and professionalism, and of course, the band. Bravo!

Your reaction remind me of mine 11 years ago. For me, my first song is "Gloria" and "kagayaku Sora no shijima ni wa" from kuroshitsuji anime soundtrack. Then, I try to found who made it and got my self a way to Kalafina and Kajiura Yuki and Fiction Junction. Decide to hear "oblivious" yeah, that's awesome, grew on me, want to hear another one, hear "sprinter", " aria", come "red moon", " magia", "ongaku", watch their live concert, even more awesome. Next thing I know, I'm a canta per me. Their music is one of a kind, I hardly found other musician sounds like them. The epicness of the group vocal harmony, layered by classic-rock-synthetic band harmony is addicting. Heart broken of their disbandment, only to found, I can't hear them again live or another new Kalafina's music. Even if the member went solo and i support them, it's just not the same experience without Kalafina 😞😔😢😭

Omg more react to kalafina please. I've been loving their songs since they debuted. I wouldn't discover them if it weren't for their composer kajiura yuki. I really love their style. I have never seen it anywhere aside from them. Too bad they disbanded now.

Kalafina 😍 you should react to Magia, Sprinter, Lirica, Kyrie, Hyakka Ryouran, Ongaku, Blaze or One Light, there are many songs that are so awesome. I love the harmony they have, and also because when they have a live the girls give everything on stage. I had the opportunity of going to the concert they offered on Mexico city and it was really awesome, I cried with some songs and sang during the whole concert. Oblivious is the song which I became their fan, so you guys started well!

This is the video that made me subscribe. Kalafina is such perfection and I’m so happy to see you reacting to them. Yuki Kajiura (the creator, composer, lyricist, & producer) really had something special with Kalafina. Keiko, Wakana, & Hikaru have such beautiful voices that melt together perfectly and fit the music. I’m so sad they disbanded after their 10 year anniversary, but seeing people still discovering them makes me happy. Anyway, I suggest you react to Ongaku live. The song was a staple in their live performances. You always knew they were going to perform it and it always got the crowd pumped up. I think you’d enjoy it. :)

Kalafina was/is absolutely AMAZING . their music is unlike any other . every song is a fantasy world portrayed in music. the 3 ladies singing ...Keiko , Wakana and Hikaru ...their voices together are like angels singing. and its all composed and created by one amazing lady Yuki Kajiura :)

The first song I ever heard by them just shook my world, Hikari Furu, a very slow song, something I would normally not pay a lot of attention to, but by the time Wakana had the first measure of her vocals out I was a fan for life --- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eb6pg7Boxq24nnU.html) But make no mistake, these girls can rock as well. She usually handles the high operatic type vocals, with training in Japanese and western classical. Hikaru, she's a year or two younger than Wakana, and does a lot of the 'mid range' vocals, and has a Pop background Keiko, the youngest at around 30. She has the deeper voice and was brought up in a 'rock' tradntion. All that said, they can all sing pretty well any range needed for the song, and there is no real 'leader' in terms of 'main singer', they all get their songs and parts in songs .. this is an ensemble vocal group, and they do a lot of complicated harmonies where at times they are all singing a different counterpoint melody .. they are so F!!!!!!!ing amazing. The girls were brought together by a singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer, genius named Yuki Kajiura .. Yuki had to write and perform some music for some anime series and would put together the talent to perform her music for the shows from the best of the best in Japan... the music was so good that people demanded that they do live shows. so Kalafina became the result of that demand. Yuki Kajiura also did other bands as well (the Kalafina girls also participated in various combinations of those bands, along with other great female vocalists ... FictionJunction being another notable and incredible Yuki Kajiura variation of singers and songs.) Unfortunately Yuki Kajiura's contract with the company that owned Kalafina ended around end of 2017(?) and she didn't re-sign. THe Band remained together for a few months, but without their leader the girls decided to take some time off and maybe do some things on their own for a while (I hear Wakana is releasing a new solo album in March.) Fortunately, the output of this band and the various Yuki Kajiura creations are plentyfull, so anyone just finding them and wanting to see more, will be able to find a 'shyte-load of good music by these people.

Now i remember back then i asked these guys to make a vid reaction of Kalafina (esp their live) for any song. I forgot bout it, but then this came to my recommendation. THANK YOU SO MUCH for watching our goddess

Many, many and many thanks for this reaction video. The first one I encounter in the years that I know them. Also a fun fact: Officially Yuki Kaijura stated that there is no meaning behind the name Kalafina, however just by some weird coincident I discovered someone explaining a plausible meaning. In Romanian Kalafina means (shortened): Dark graceful goddesses.

If you like kalafina, please look at fictionjunction. It is another group created by kajiura yuki, the composer of kalafina. She is now working using fictionjunction. She published a new song with Lisa, but not the same kind of songs as kalafina usually do.

Kalafina is definitely from another dimension. No singer, no music, no performance could ever compare to them.

pure talent. no need to dance or show bodied to capture people. not to mention they sing it and their voice is exactly like in the song. hollywood artist cant do this

What makes Kalafina so great is that their overall sound is far different than the music that I’m accustomed to listening. It feels like contemporary opera to me and I know that does not do Justice to Kalafina’s catalogue. But I will say that their sound will never be duplicated by anyone! The sound is so unique it’s hard to put into words to be honest!

try fictionjuction - kaiga they are the same producer and composer, two of the kalafina members were in the group at that time. Kaiga is the song that u can see how the composer Wright a song in 4 different vocal range and come together and becomes a beautiful harmony. Kaiga means return with triumph after war, but in their version, it says about sad return.

The live video is from indonesian channel? Anyhow, the composition grew on me so fast i cried listening to Kalafina songs. Kajiura and Kalafina are geniuses.
