One of the best singers I heard. So underrated. She can also play violin and piano. Her range is also insane. If you listen to "I catch a cold" she sounds like a kid and then in "pinku no zou" she starts so deep. Her real name is Akiko Yoshida and kokia is her name in reverse like the chorus of the song. Here she is reversing the hiragana and katakana symbols but in "follow the nightingale" she reverses the Roman letters of Japanese words. "matte" becoming "ettam". She also made a song in French to thank her french fans where she used to host a yearly concert. She

i saw her in VIP concert and her particularity is to have an angel voice and a very modular and powerful voice too. I remember wondering myself how something so powerful can come from a SO TINY GIRL !! She compose every song too ! Oh and the song is from Origine (Origin: Spirits of the Past) an japanese animated movie ^^

I loved your reaction. TBH I had the same reaction when I first hear Kokia. Yes, I was there when this video was recorded out of pure luck, my friend brought me to the concert and I was not expecting much out of that tiny asian woman, I was shocked when she started signing. Her vibrato and bass are so powerful you could feel the vibration on the arm rests of the seats of that small theatre. No Joke.

She's singing about the forest and its sounds. The chorus is sung in Japanese backwards.

If you want to see the fantasy world she is singing about just watch the anime Origin - Spirit of the past. This song is part of the sountdrack of that anime.

Thank you for react to Kokia, she's an amazing artist, but not very popular. some anime songs are Transparent and KARMA from Requiem For The Phantom | Fate, Omoi and Nageki no oto from Break Blade | Sakura no Ki no Shita and hikari no kata e from Saiyuki Gaiden. The song KARMA is very good.

The word for Japanese cartoons is pronounced one of two ways in English: "anim-ay"(like if you combined the words animal and may) or like the Japanese pronunciation: "ah-knee-may." You shouldnt stop mid song, but listen till the end at least once and then return to specific parts which got you interested in particular. When you stop mid tact you lose the consistency, the tempo, progression and the buildup which is being made there
