In Brazil (in a community descended fr0m an old settlement of runaway slaves), there is the jogo do pau, which inherits the name of Portuguese art (and some influences), but in general it is more like this Kalinda. They must have common roots. This is really cool. We can see that jogo do pau seems to be superior because of the immediate counter-attack. His defense was flawless and really hard to break and the counter-attacks quick and dangerous. Good show.

My dear friends I do not know any of these practicioners but one thing I must say for sure - Jogo do Pau is the superior stick fighting art on the planet. If you want to experience it come to Portugal (the art is still alive there).

It's not a matter of opinion, it's the reality so far and saying this I must say that I apreciate very much Filipino martial arts and other traditional martial arts from all over the world. I think they all also have their own value. We must understand them in their cultural and geographic context.
