I watched a clip on Maltese telly about clearing the old boat yard in Kalkara looks so different, I thought why not take a look if it was all finished! and walk around the village and maybe eat something!!

The best pastizzi I can remember was from a little stand at the side of the old Bus terminus at City gate (the beautiful old one, not the brutalist Mussolini-inspired big stone blocks that uglify the place now) run by a great old-timer back in the day. I always had the riccotta cheese one. Perfect.

Hh Hi Steve..lovely walk today....was it actually today or some time ago ??Kalkara is really nice and tidy now...but it must be a hell of a job to deliver a grand piano into the back streets !! The snack shops everywhere Hi Steve..lovely walk...was it actually today or some time ago.... Kalkara looks nice and renovated but I couldn't fancy delivering a grand piano in the back streets !!! The takeaways always look so inviting even if the owners are a bit grumpy...THhhe macaroni looked really tasty !!!...We are very lucky in Cardifg there is Mcsims and they do a nice range of pastizza and also Kinnie...so that makes a nice occasionalmtrip..Mind the girls behind the counters are pretty but DUMB...just have to put up with that to get the tastebuds reminded !!! Don't worry about the cloudy skies Steve. There are photographers and painters who would give a lot for the beautiful pastel colours of the water and boats in that harbour. Thanks for another great one. Your camera work is brilliant.

BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC KALKARA 🛶 🌊 🚤 🕍. A lot of British Naval history around there Steve. That seafront is looking really nice now. Steve, I didn't know your mate "La" had a Maltese brother named "Lawrence" 😊. (Correction please: Malta is NOT the only country where contractors leave "suovenirs" behind, I can assure you 🦘😊. 'Crystal Palace' is my favorite, and any place that sources their pastizzi from them I like the pastizzi they sell just as much. My Second favorite is 'Champs Pastizzeria' (and Sphinx, they are owned by the same people, basically the same thing), Champs is located in Valletta, located in Mellieħa, and also located in Saint Julian's. My 3rd favorite is 'Premier Pastizzeria' and as you know it is in Mosta. I usually get mostly Ricotta, and some of the pea. There is a Cafe in Victoria Gozo 'called Kafe' San Gorg', that is their only location, they use their own recipe from the early 1950s, I like their pastizzi more than the pastizzi from most of Pastizzerias. Wow at the Sphinx they had Imqaret? I don't think that I have ever seen Imqaret at a Pastizzeria before. I wonder how good their Imqaret is.

@@EnglishmaninMalta I did not try Crystal Palace until 2019, and so far it's my favorite place, and I don't understand why people don't care for it, grease dripped from the pastizzi almost as much as the pastizzi from Champs did, I ate Crystal Palace pastizzi twice in 2019.

I think that square in Birgu is under construction. Last time I saw there a big hole in pjazza. Need a research. .. I remember pastizzi with chocolate 😊

Hi Steve, enjoying the videos. That big ship at 29:00 is a PCC (Pure Car Carrier) operated by Hoegh Autoliners bringing imported automobiles to Malta. I hope to get back to Malta again later this year or early next year, will put Kalkara on my list of spots to visit.

I like sphinx as well. A few years ago they did fruit flavour ones for pride. The kiwi one was my favourite.

The man you met even called it by its old name "Vittoriosa".
