We get them a lot in Oregon and Washington, especially in the swamp areas. Which is awesome since 1 they are cool and 2 they are actually edible but it also sucks when you are allergic to everything pollen and similar, lol. I'm not a redhead, my hair is naturally brown, but I spend time in the sun I get naturally red highlights which I love because I love red hair and always wanted red hair (my favourite red hair is the colour of Grace's hair on Will & Grace, that's the colour my hair highlights when the sun changes it). Only problem is, if I spend too much time in the sun I get ill and rashy, so I don't do that too often, unless I don't have a choice.. only good thing that comes out of it, is the red in the hair I get...lol. When I was a kid I was jealous of the girls with red hair, even though they got teased and I never understood why.

You look great Kris with any hair color!!! That plant is called a Typha Latifolia, AKA Cattail. They grow wild like crazy in Florida, among other places in and around ponds. The shoots (stems) can even be eaten cooked or raw. Just a little fun fact. 😊

Fun fact: The cotton thingies are called cattail, and they grow near ponds and marshy water. They're made of tightly packed together seeds, and they blow up all fluffy to the wind can spread the seeds out. Also, life hack, if you put bacon on a cookie tray covered in parchment paper and cook it in the oven at like 350 until it's as dark/cripsy as you like it, you can have bacon and not get burned by boiling oil :) hope my knowledge was helpful

We used to have a special tray for the microwave that had ridges on it and a collection tray on one side. We'd put 2 paper towels down on the tray, line up the bacon, put down a single paper towel and then a second line of bacon. A towel on top to keep the mess down and microwave for like 3 minutes...the collection tray caught all the grease. We'd cook a pound of bacon in 2 runs. Took less than 10 minutes start to finish. We don't eat as much anymore, so when we do have bacon, we cook it in the oven. :)

I swear, Kris and Jay are the perfect Creator-Editor duo! Jay is awesome at his job, and the way he brings some of Kris’s off the cuff statements into visual reality is amazing! I also love their in-video dialogue exchanges! It adds an extra layer of fun. Their friendship also seems to be so genuine, which is very cool. Kris by herself is hilarious, creative, and talented, so once you add in the humour, talent, and ability to play off the joke of Jay, it is the viewing equivalent of a perfectly baked AND decorated cake 🎉 Also, Kevin is so adorable. I love this shade of hair, but I Freaking Love the bright red shade you're now sporting! And that thing the girl bit into is a Cattail. Every part of the plant is useful! The seeds can be roasted and used like coffee, the fluff (which is what exploded out of the girl's mouth) can be used as stuffing in coats or toys, the stalk & leaves can be used to weave with, and the roots can be eaten like potatoes! Now you know. 👍🏻😁👍🏻

Your hair looks fabulous! Also, since you love bacon, but don't enjoy the potential issue of grease popping up and hitting you while you are cooking it, you can cook it in the oven. Line a sheet pan with some parchment paper or aluminum foil and place the bacon on that. Then bake it until it reaches your desired crispiness or lack thereof. You can flip it halfway through to help with cooking it evenly.

Next question (not sure of order) If I had $1 for each time (I do this mostly waiting at gas stations, sitting in drivers seat, while my kind son is pumping the gas) I'd be rich when I look at the car next to me pulling out, I think my car IS MOVING & YOUR RIGHT, IT FREAKS ME OUT!! Mostly it happens when your looking down on your phone & you look up next to you. And...like you. I don't like cats either, I'm a doggy person too!! Love Kevin!! He has dreamy eyes & is a calm good doggy boy!! Sooo sweet. The fact that you have ADHD helps me with dealing with my own diagnosis (ASD+ADHD) which I got diagnosed at 25 (way too late if u ask me). It resulted in many more issues like depression, eating disorder, social anxiety, childhood trauma, low self-esteem etc.) I'm 27 now and still struggling but seeing what an amazing and funny person you are helps me focus on the positives and gives me a feeling of being understood, even if we don't know each other in person. Like the zoning out part - girl I zoned out too and u saying you zoned out made me literally laught out loud. Love you, girll

If you're scared of bacon grease popping onto you, 1) fair, 2) bake it! Put some strips on a tray (line it with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup), bake at 200 C for 10-20 minutes. You can get it nice and crispy without it tasting like charcoal.

To cook bacon... preheat your oven to 325. Put a cookie cooling rack on top of a sheet pan (the same size as the pan). Lay the bacon on the cooling rack, and place in the oven. Have a metal can nearby so that as the grease collects in the baking sheet you can carefully pour the drippings into the can for later use. Make sure you wipe any grease from bottom of cookie sheet. When the bacon is almost cooked but not browned, raise the oven temp to 400 and leave in doe a few min as you carefully observe until the bacon is your desired level of chewy, crispy, or crunchy

The tops are full of spores/seeds, but survivalists say you can dig up their roots from the edges of ponds where they grow, and the roots or tubers are about the size of your pinky finger; they can be cooked in the coals of a campfire until they're soft like a potato. And they basically do taste like a baked potato when they're cooked.

Hair looks amazing, and the compliments hit hard for us gingers. It's like "the register is down, so your chicken nuggets are going to be free", I'd hug them if I could and wasn't in the drive through of shame. That's how happy about the compliment I am : ) ...I am afraid of toilet rats, now but you boosted my self esteem to a solid 5. Like SOLID. Pretty alright. And you just reminded me to take my meds. If you don't like the splattering of bacon grease, Cook your bacon in the oven. On a sheet pan, lay out your bacon. Oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 15-20 minutes. Turn the bacon over. 10-15 minutes depending on how crispy you want it. Easy Peasy!

Kris I have a solution for your bacon cooking problem! They sell these mesh wire lids at dollar tree and most stores in the cookware section, but its specifically for cooking meats and things to keep oil in but let steam out! I used to freak out and burn myself all the time and my papa showed me the one he had, it was definitely an antique, but it gets the job done. I recently saw some at dollar tree and wanted to get one for myself, but i figured I'd pass on that bit of info and save you some third degree burns and you can enjoy bacon again! Love ya girl!

so for bacon if you don't want splishy splashies (also its better this way imo) line a baking sheet with tin foil and you can bake it instead of frying it. its good if you need to make massive amounts of it at once, and it crisps it up really well. not to mention the absence of oil spashes. also you can save the bacon grease in a jar (sounds gross, I know, but trust me on this) and you can use your saved bacon grease to fry other things in to give them bacony flavor. super good, try it out

When you save the bacon grease, do you keep it in the fridge, or just keep it in a jar with a lid on the counter? Cuz I always worry about bacteria getting into the bacon grease... My step mom used to do this, but I can't remember how she stored it.

Dear Kris… first you are amazing and thank you for being you. Second as a 33 year old woman I can confirm, you are not alone in your fear of cooking bacon and being splashed by the grease. I too have that fear, use to use the lid like a shield when I cooked it (or anything that makes/uses grease), now we pay the extra expense of microwave bacon and just let the microwave cook it. Third; I love the hair. Fourth; Jay you are also amazing and I really love how much you support Kris.

Hey, just throwing this out there, but cooking bacon on a sheet tray in the oven, with parchment paper, is not only the cleanest, safest method, it also lets you completely control your desired level of crispiness. Very common in restaurants the world over, try it...

Yeah we have tried the oven method as well… it’s good, but then our house smells greasy for a few days and as much as I love the smell of bacon(which I only smell as it’s cooking/baking), the smell of grease makes me nauseous lol

Bacon tip: lay the pieces on a baking sheet and cook it in the oven. If you have one of those racks that go on a baking sheet that helpsbthe grease drip off but if not just place cooked bacon on a plate with paper towel when it comes out of the oven to drip off excess grease. No splishy splashy to deal with!

The plant at 3:17 is called a Cattail (genus Typha). They're also commonly called bulrush. They can be found in a variety of wetland habitats. Their long tapering leaves have smooth margins and are somewhat spongy. The tiny unisexual flowers are borne on a dense cylindrical spike, with the male flowers located above the female flowers. After releasing their pollen, the male flowers wither and fall off, leaving the characteristic brown furry fruiting spikes. When mature, the spike disintegrates to release cottony masses of wind-dispersed seeds.
