Thats awesome. I found them in 2010 when my dad passed and Khan left. Their music helped me alot. But as sad it was Roy left i did give Tommy a chance. For the shoes he had to fill I'm happy. Plus Roy's back in Conception and Tommy has music in Seventh Wonder and Ayreon..also Casey is drumming for Queensryche now.

Why this band didn't shoot into the stratosphere of fame and fortune after this incredible tour supporting one of the greatest metal albums ever made is completely beyond me. Kamelot (at this time) was easily on par with the top metal bands of their time. And add to that arguably THE greatest voice in metal-music.
@bassdrummer98497 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you!!! Although Kamelot gets more fame right now, 2005/2006 were the years they deserve the most. Kamelot is a much more talented/creative band than most (New) metal bands nowadays. Especially with Roy. However, Tommy is doing a amazing job to ;) But unfortunately .... not everyone gets that :( in my opinion; With their music they deserve stages like Wacken, Rock am Ring, Fortarock, Pinkpop etc.
@jeffreystevens80426 жыл бұрын
Metal bands can't really get fame and fortune in the current music environment. It's mostly reserved for pop music and top 100 stuff which makes it to award shows or stuff that pioneers genres. Like how everyone knows Metallica and Black Sabbath but doesn't necessarily listen to them or like them. I love Kamelot, but they didn't really reinvent metal, they just play it really, REALLY well.
@MrJc96006 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Stevens I’m not even asking for that level of recognition (although Khan as a vocalist completely deserves it) they could be at least as popular as A7X or Disturbed and I’d be happy.
@jeffreystevens80426 жыл бұрын
I feel ya. They do completely deserve it, more so in my opinion because of their level of technique. Metal is really hard to do play, much harder to nail down like these guys do. Just keep spreading the vibes. I know I am; I play Kamelot on my university radio show.

I was just telling my wife about a memory of a kamelot concert from when I was younger. I was hanging onto the rail at the front. And Roy came up a few times through the show and did the "Bro handshake" with me and my buddy. Everytime I remember that story now, I'll pretend it was me, my buddy and you were there too 😂😂

Same regret here, I missed being able to go to the last concert they did with him in my area before he left, just like I missed the last show Nightwish did out here with Tarja. I've seen both live since and as great as they are, it's still not the same.

Abandoned by Kamelot is a song/art masterpiece that you don't even need to know the lyrics, to know it is a masterpiece. Roy's voice itself is a perfect instrument. The harmonic progression is also very striking, nothing too controversial or complicated, but the effect is unbelievable.

I agree with everyone in this thread, and I think it's just too good and too much depth for the mainstream. Mature themes. People in the US are anything but mature. Trust me, I live here. The entire rest of the world likes them tho, so, I'll take that as a win for Kamelot. Roy Khan is the best vocalist ever, his handicam bootlegs are better than most vocalists studio recordings with all the magic you can throw at them.
