I visited some of the Peiper locations on one day, including Lanzerath, Malmedy and Le Gleize, but could have spent a week at least. I had sandwich in Stavelot but was clueless at the time as to its importance in the battle. Glad I spent four days in the Bastogne area though.

I'm currently reading Anthony Tucker-Jones's (Kindle) book Hitler's Winter. Maps are totally inadequate so your imaginative use of Google maps really helps my understanding of Peiper's movements. In fact, best description I've seen.

22:17 Minutes in you show the main route of KG Peiper. According to Reynolds the Spitze element went slightly further north, to Losheim Church took a left towards Lanzerath. The road with a pronounced S bend. See Day 3, Peiper's Route, Scheid to Stavelot 5min, a video with Jay Karamales. There is a stark difference between the camcorder approach those guys had to the technology you are able to deploy today. The drone footage and use of google earth are transformational. Fog of war and chaos, fuel dumps missed, good defence positions abandoned to occupy checkpoints already in enemy hands...Doomed to failure from the outset, and a waste of life and materiel for the Germans.

Pipers Kàmpf Gruppe was extremely powerful there were 40 Kìng tigers plus plus plus but insufficent fuel loads

I’m not saying that Malmady wasn’t an awful event. But I have no doubt that the people on the Eastern Front would scoff at that pointing out that this type of event happened all the time on their side.

There is discrepancy whether Peiper was present at massacre at Malmedy.... what are your thoughts ? thank you
