I have been to EBC 5 times,twice via Gokyo,and once to Annapurna Base Camp over recent years.I agree with all your comments and great presentation.This is one of the most beautiful and inspiring place on earth and for anyone thinking about this journey,just do it.I just keep getting pulled back to the mountains.

You would loveeeee hiking up the Volcano de Fuego in Guatemala! The hike is difficult but after what you experience it would be a breeze! 12,000 feet in altitude & the most rewarding eruptions and views from the volcano 🌋

I know you are interested in Treks, but I'm recommending a one night hike. Acatenango to watch Volcán de Fuego erupt in Guatemala. It is so beautiful and it was definitely tough, but so beautiful!

I did EBC in January 2013 when I was 18. The hardest part for me was also going from base camp back to gorakshep. I trip over, didn’t hurt myself at all,but it was enough to make me breakdown from the pure exhaustion of the previous week, probably lack of oxygen and all else that goes into the trek. And seems like lots has changed in the 10+ years since I’ve been in regards to wifi, electricity, warm showers, western toilets etc…

newsflash -- everyone burns calories as they sleep - a lot of people might not think so - but yes, I realise your point is that you're all using more energy to do everything. It's such a great experience. A lot of people seem to be doing this on KZfaq.

Seems like you have super mild exercise induced asthma, not sure it would be suitable for those of us with more moderate/severe asthma(like having to be on daily medication for it like advair ect.) I mean i have to use my rescue inhaler(while being on daily asthma medication) if it’s just cold outside or if I’m having allergies, and every time I exercise. Exercising in the cold alone would have me using my inhaler a ton, the altitude would be so much harder too I would probably pass out 😅

Remember where the actual trek starts...Jiri. EBC is a super highway and not the least bit difficult, especially if you fly in rather than hiking. Good you got to see it regardless.

You missed the best trail! One thing nobody tells you (except me) is that there is a superior alternative route people should use on the way up instead of simply hiking through Tengboche twice. The Namche - Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail offers vastly better views high across the valley, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. It does not even take any more time on the way up, even though it is maybe 2 hours longer in total than the stuck-in-a-rut Tengboche trail everybody seems to hike twice, not knowing better. Lazy guides, no research, no map reading skills... Do not simply follow trail heatmaps, explore! Wasted opportunity there.
