i think the “realness” of it is what makes the show for me. despite the reincarnation aspect, it 100% feels like these characters and this plot could exist in real life. aside from Aka’s characterization, it might have to do with them explicitly mentioning social media sites like tiktok and KZfaq LOL

@@AlanaMisako well that helps too. if you've read the kaguya sama manga, there is a chapter dedicated to miyuki's father and his new career as a streamer. it's eerily accurate. like... absolutely accurate. down to the superchats go brrrrr when his sister ends up on stream briefly when she gets something to drink from the fridge... and the comments. lol but yeah, this one is a special one. loving the anime adaption. a little sad it's winding down so soon. i really hope there is another season coming soon. there definately is enough manga for it.

The only mystery is how she got Kana to wear the baking soda shirt. Maybe it's just because Kana doesn't have anything else suitable for dance practice, but she's a runner so that would be strange. Perhaps Kana wears it to be polite, but only as exercise gear so she doesn't have to be seen wearing it elsewhere

It's depressingly common. A lot of artists will tell you they can pour their heart and soul into their work for years and no one will notice, but a dumb thing they did on a whim will suddenly become popular for no apparent reason.

Aqua already told Kana that Aquane is just a work thing, and Kana is pro enough to know that that's likely true. But she's still *feeling* betrayed, and her rational mind and emotions being so at odds likely messes her up even more.

It's not news because it's basically expected for most performers in general lol. There are a lot of idols that don't ever reveal their age too so they can claim to be any age they want within reason. There are a lot of performers, models, internet personalities and talents in Japan that hide their age in general.

It's slowly changing with the current generation. Like in many countries the new generation wants different things and has different priorities, Gen Z in Japan are getting married later, not having kids and so on. The 20+ thing also mainly applies to women who are expected to follow a path into marriage and having kids in their early 20's, this is to the point that junior colleges are specifically aimed at women and focus more on an education they'd need to be a good housewife and mother and it lasts for 2 years where most higher education is much longer. In the past most women would go into a junior college if they came from a decent enough background or enter the workforce right away if from a poor family, They'd only be expected to be part of the workforce for a couple of years then meet somebody and leave work when they get pregnant/married. These days a lot more women are interested in careers or running their own business than in the past so the mentality of these things is changing.

Vtubers take it to the next level by saying they're thousand year old dragons, hundred year old magic users etc, even if they are usually 25-35 years old irl

If you were really like Aqua, you would have a better understanding of Ruby & Kana as individuals
