Yeah the mirroring with Kana to Ai is pretty strong in the performance scene. It was the exact same point in the song that baby Ruby and Aqua cheered Ai with the glowsticks that Aqua whips out the glowsticks in this scene. We got the genuine smile from Ai and the genuine feeling of being appreciated for Kana.

The wotagei parallel was definitely intentional and I didn't picked it up when reading the manga, but this sort of thing can only do in anime and they nailed it

It’s because she is the center so she has the same dance as Ai. But it’s pretty obvious, whether you’re a manga reader or not, that the real successor of Ai is Ruby… SPOIL . . . . . Kana will quit B-Komachi because she doesn’t want to be an idol but an actress. And in the last chapter (123), Aqua said Ruby shines even more than Ai.

"Oshi" means "favorite". And "(A) no (B)" means "(B) of (A)" and " A's B". "Ko" means "child", "kid" and "the young". So Aqua & Ruby are "Oshi no Ko"(Ai's children). And Kana decided to be Aqua's "Oshi no Ko"(favorite girl). If my English is wrong, I'm sorry. Explaining "no" is very difficult because it has unique meaning to Japanese.

Manga readers seeing all the new characters introduced with Tokyo Blade arc at the end will probably have a hard time to wait. This adaptation last episode was so good. I can not give less than a 10/10 for the quality of the adaptation.

i’m assuming your talking about the cemetery, it would have been wild if they had showed that scene but i’m kind of glad they didn’t. they kind of set everything up without a big cliffhanger and we will probably get to see it within the first episode of season 2

Yeah... I was certain they would put that scene there when I saw Ruby in the cemetery. Even if it wasn't in the manga continuity it would have been such a good hook for season, something that was slightly missing. My guess is that this was the plan but they realized that adding in a line from that character in the anime could mess with fan theories since that would give them a recognizable voice...

Kana literally said sh'ed make herself Aqua's favorite idol and the title of the show "Oshi no Ko" roughly translate to "my favorite idol". She's already my favorite idol/character in this show tho.

I love that you pointed out parallels between Ai and Kana. I love that it's all there without Kana even trying. They're opposites but very similar at the same time. The way they mirror each other is one of my favorite things in the series.

The Star Stage is based on the Sky Stage at Tokyo Idol Festival, it's on the roof of a tall building so the background to the performances is quite something! It is hot though since they hold this stuff in the middle of summer lol. I really liked the car scene in this episode, the use of silence was perfect here to emphasise how tired everybody is after a long day along with the tension between Aqua and Kana.

I want season2 ASAP too but I'm willing to wait longer if the animation studio will be able to deliver as good as (or even better) season1. You can tell they put so much heart on this first season. The emotions they want to convey each episode always hit the mark. Even the background colors were given so much thought that these suit the mood so much.

Some fun Japanese trivia: Akane's character is Sayahime or Princess Saya, and Kana's character is Tsurugi. Saya means sheath and Tsurugi means sword. Aqua's character Touki has the kanji for sword and demon, so his name is just Demon Sword.

Fans of Japanese music usually use Kingblades, a sort of glowstick which you can use to change between colors depending on the mood of the song. Red/Orange are usually used for when you are feeling the hype so it definitely sticks out more. Had a great time following your channel for the Oshi no Ko reactions and the insightful takes. As always, great reaction! However, there is a section from the manga chapter from which this last episode was adapted that I really wish they had included. Mana, the idol girl who was going to watch B-Komachi at the start of the episode, had half of Chapter 39 dedicated to her just before the scene where Ruby and the gang meet Aqua in the car. It was just another glimpse into the reality of lesser-known idols' lives and how they live them, which I think is pretty cool and interesting to see and read. If you have the time, take a look.

I think it's interesting how pretty much every main girl is compared to Ai's genius in some way- Ruby, Kana, Akane, even MEM-cho all have their talents and charm that make them entertaining geniuses. It's really fun to see where they take those talents. Excited for season two!

I think season 2 has already been announced. With the success of this season and the fact that a lot of people on the anime are fans of the manga, it had no doubt that it would happen one day. I don't think the date when it will come out is announced yet, but I don't care if the season has at least the same production quality level than this one.

reaction appreciated, expanded on some stuff to help give context: - 0:24 "but kana can sing, the one main requirement to being an idol" debatably, the main requirement is making people happy. being able to sing at all would be a bonus. i feel like too many people coming from western grading standards evaluated their karaoke scores a bit too harshly - in-universe, kana and memcho probably sound okay, decent. and that's absolutely fine to start with. - 5:35 i mentioned this all the way in the first episode but the term for the glowstick dance is wotagei. wotagei is a whole thing for idol fans, and i bring it up because i'd like for more people to be aware of it. technically what they did first time around as babies was a variation of one of the base moves. off the top of my head right here, this is all actual wotagei. so even aqua improved too. - 5:50 by accidentally leaving out the "no" you might sound like you said "piss" in japanese lmao. - 10:42 2.5D plays basically make anime/manga/video games into plays that it feels like you're seeing the characters in real life. haikyuu is probably one of the most known for its stage play which reinterprets the manga into stage using a mix of traditional theatre and modern technology. - 23:21 notice that one of those models is also shown as part of the tokyo blade play.

sorry if the meaning of "oshi no ko" has been explained before and here"s why the title name drop by kana makes sense. in Japan's entertainment industry, "oshi" refers to "giving support to the person you like." "no" means "of" or "belong to" "ko" means "young one" or "child" so oshinoko means "the young one that i support (as a fan)" or "the child of the one i support", which is the double meaning of the title of this anime. what Kana said is "i will become the one that you will support (as a fan)" .... probably better translated into "i will make you my fan"

Cant help but think that Melt the purple haired guy would be a part of tokyo blade and they'll show some bits of bl content together with Aqua..👀 Also man I knew Karburagi was not the only relevant character shown during Ai's Funeral in ep 1.. The other guy behind him.. Plus if the girl in the audience from arround mark 7:45 of the anime is the same girl shown at the beginning called Mana..she might be a relevant character as well.

This manga is a weekly serial, yet it is unusually packed with sentimental stories and catharsis, and yet it is not unnatural. A normal manga artist would probably stretch it out a bit more, but Akasaka-sensei is already a successful artist, so there is no need for him to do so. The story is always linear and consistent. That's why the animation is so perfect. Akasaka is indeed a master at building such a long storyline on whether or not to confess.

Prediction Time: Akane is not gonna win. It's very clear, if you read enough fiction, as to which girl the authors are greatly favoring. It's clear as day as to the bias towards certain characters. No tropes, but subtle things authors subconsciously put into their work. I don't think if Aqua will end with Kana, since there's a possibility that he will be in jail or just dies alone. However, I'm willing to bet real money that Aqua will not end up with Akane

I think the problem with love triangles is when the story uses the love triangle as an excuse for characters to act irrationally for the sake of the plot AND when not all of the characters involved are likeable and interesting. Berserk for example has a love triangle, but all the characters are very interesting, so it’s not as boring/lame when someone acts irrationally. Idk they are usually pretty annoying though

@@manofculture2729 Yeah, that doesn't mean much. There are plenty of shows where the love triangles helped character development. Still ruined the show for me. Re:Zero, QQ, Nisekoi, you name it, I hate it.
