Many female vocalists have recorded this song through the years; my favorite being the late, great Nancy Wilson. Kandace’s version has taken it to a new level! Thank you for keeping Jazz alive! Simply beautiful!

@@billofjazz --- Txs for agreeing w/ my comment, but I think you missed my point. I spoke of my hope that in the future seeing a WOMEN's jazz combo would be the norm rather than an asterisk. But to put "Beauty", as a criteria for success, along side years of practice and journeymen work is in IMO a detraction. As a jazz musician yourself, I don't think you'd opt not to purchase a ticket to see a very talented MEN's jazz combo -- simply bc the members were less than handsome? The old joke, "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? - Answer: Practice, Practice, Practice". Yours were not the only comments listed that called out the physical beauty of the artists, and I agree 100% with that in the here and now. But I'm thinking of the young girl who dreams of one day singing or playing piano like that. Shouldn't investing in the craft of making beautiful music be enough?

This is in my opinion one of the hardest songs in the world to sing. The chord progression and the timing thereof leaves little space for the vocalist to give it their everything. And yet here you find the time and range to improvise. Incredible

I, a jazz guitarist and am usually the stoic one, seemingly devoid of all emotion, but the last bar of this gorgeous tune, and the harmonies had me in happy moment tears. Kandace Springs eternally. I love you and your music. And yes, I did play along and continue to be amazed at how wonderfully she and her band played together. Gotta go. Forgot where I last saw my tissue box.
