Jesse Plemons is seriously underrated as a comedic actor.

I think the scene shows the paranoia that killers suffer from. Both Frank and Sally show elements of overthinking and fear.

I always assumed that the reason frank is so adamant about sitting in the back is because he's concerned for his safety, and he knows that Sally killed 3 fingers by strangling him from the backseat of a car.

The whole point of this scene that seems to be a pointless conversation piece actually shows the mafia way of life, if you’re caught or suspected to be lying even about the littlest thing and not being able to explain yourself then it literally could end up with a ‘sit down’.
