Damo 616 he speaks with a lot of clarity to me but I completely disagree with you from a U.S. Perspective. I’ve seen most American reactions to Kano’s FITB and from what I see, they struggle to catch 30% of the entire thing so they be missing hella bars and plenty of stuff that relate to UK and just slang in general. Kano’s is slang heavy on the bars often. Rich done well picking up what he did whilst still missing bars but I expect that and have commented pretty much the same thing on the actual freestyle video. I believe it’s one of the best FITB’s but not enough recognition due to the reasons above. UK know but worldwide would struggle in comparison to a Wretch freestyle for example

Damo 616 No probs man, I appreciate your reply. No doubt, I do see American reactors rating Kano highly but we would pretty much not miss a line, I don’t think the same can be said for anyone outside of UK or even London for that matter lol. But in saying that, I think the Americans dig Kano purely because from their perspective, they’re witnessing a ‘raw’ mc. This is a guy that has it all, wordplay but flows tight too and can switch it up anytime. The stage presence of the man, he was born to hold a microphone. To me, that resonates a lot in the way he performs. Plus you will notice that he isn’t monotone like a lot of rappers. He has character, puts on yard accent in raps well and can project his voice at different levels and pitches to emphasise things certain bars in his lyrics. A true G In regards to Rich, I totally hear you. But in his defence, I would say that he’s not your everyday music reactor. He’s quite deep and likes to put his take on things when listening. He’s not just demonstrating that he catches bars (which in itself is impressive as I see the ones he catches and it’s not always the obvious) but when he understands and likes a lyric he delves into the point. I think it’s a good thing that he devotes that much time to his listeners. Almost an educated reaction. His persona plays off well as although he’s confident, he’s not a cocky fucker and he seems a very humble grounded guy. And I guess we could always forward the talking if not interested but I watch reactions for the complete reaction as you never know what will be said and when. Peace to you bro

Boro Boyo1 That’s my thoughts too. London slang littered all over the freestyle. If you get it all, you know it’s ace. Even references to Lethal B (mentioned as Bizzle). Who would know who he was referring too? Grime listeners only. Plus when he says ‘Titched this’, no outsider would know that Crazy T so it’s very much written for local listeners and people who take the time to deep what he’s saying. So far, Rich has understood this most out of all U.S. reactions IMHO

Bro, as a Londoner, I salute you for reacting to this. Not many Americans could keep up because of the strong London accent but you caught a lot of the bars! It's crazy to me that I was listening to Kano 15+ years ago when he was totally underground, and now here you are listening on KZfaq lol. love it.

As a chef, I love the food references "Call my Nan for escovitch and fishes". Jamaican dish with raw fish & peppers marinated in vinegar and lime juice. "Used to eat festivals and now I eat at festivals..." Festivals are savoury cornmeal fried dumplings, great with curry goat or jerk chicken - I put them on the menu whenever possible...

"Share some Duppy Share" it's a brand of Jamaican rum - reference to the vapours that evaporated into the sky over the rum distillers, known as the duppy's share as it's seen as an offering to the "Duppy", a mischievous spirit that brings bad luck. Same with Cognac in France, they call it the "Angel's share".

You are literally one of the first Americans iv ever watched to actually “get” UK grime , I have so much respect for you man , you constantly ask why these names (Kano, Wretch32) are not heard of? This is why, not many Americans can relate or understand it.... keep doing what your doing, the UK GRIME scene isn’t a genre of music , it’s a culture. Respect ✊🏻
@mjpleusch

Never commented before on any of these. Grace is the cheap brand in Jamaica. His point was why you buying Heinze (expensive) when you should be buying grace (cheap) I love that line because both are cheap. It doesn’t matter which one you have so why pay more for nothing. Loving your channel my friend. Sorry for the endless comments asking you to do another reaction without appreciating the ones you do.
@richardmurray4605

My take on that bar was that Kano meant that you should be buying Grace because it is a Jamaican brand and it is better to support brands that are "local" rather than massive corporations.

They are not racist but classist, Dstrkt club is off piccadilly circus and unless you are upper class or working class but flexing with a lot of money you won't get in. Trust they would not let Morrison in there unless he showed a couple of grand to get in. The black girl thing isn't true either at least not for mixed people although obviously, I can't speak for darker skinned girls as maybe they do face more prejudice due to colourism, I am from a mixed family and the UK is not really a racist country anymore it was back in the 70's and 80's with the National front and BNP but it's changed since then and it is class which divides us, but maybe there is a prejudice, that black people aren't upper class but somebody who is white with a Manc accent or Brum wouldn't get in either. It's about class which is the last barrier we have to break down in the UK, nothing to do with race.

I love your comments. I find it annoying that 90% of people don’t even bother to respond to what you said they just demand another reaction. I think Kano is probably my favourite. He just feels it. He laughs he gets angry he gets sad. It’s all there. I agree with you, Wretch and Akala were amazing too. I think the guy you forgot was the Wiley Westwood reaction. Also good but I don’t like the second part.

I must say, through all the stuff you missed in this freestyle, you caught a good portion of it and certain parts I didn’t think you would. I’ve said many times that this freestyle is way too ‘London’ and full of slang to be totally comprehended by someone who isn’t in the London scene. Making references to Crazy Titch in this, a Grime legend who went to jail for murder just as he was about to blow up, research it. Kano epitomises the Grime scene but is way more than that, he’s a proper rapper. And to think he came through with Wretch as well as many others. They all shared mic with each other, it’s just now we see their individual brilliance.

When he asked Me or Wretch, it was a bit tongue in cheek after Mic asking who is best Me, Bugzy, Kano or Wretch? Kano and Wretch are boys, it's just friendly banter. I think if you asked him seriously, for his top three I am guessing he would chose Wretch, Ghetts and Giggs (excluding himself), he even drops bars in this session about himself, Ghetts/Ghetto, Wretch and Giggs, referring to them as the legends. Personally I think Kano, Wretch and Ghetts are the best in this game (still active) in any order you put them and they are all close friends 💯🎤🔥👊👍 P.S. DSTRKT is a night club in London.

Like I say, I think Kano is one of the best all round MC’s out that. His skills are mad. The reason you have to listen again and again to catch bars is cos he spits them so unorthodox. He’s always been one of the leading UK rappers since he came out and he was established a couple of years before Wretch and Akala. Kano was tight since Nasty Krew way back in 2003 so he’s earned his stripes and keeps improving. Legend
