Thanks for providing your review of these speakers. Based on your video I asked for these speakers for my birthday. I set them up in my home office and WOW. They are fabulous! Perfect for my setup. Awesome pair of speakers. Lots of volume, bass is pretty good too. Thank you again.

I've had my YU4 for about 1 1/2 years now, and am very happy with them. The thing I'm happiest about is I got them from Amazon as a warehouse deal for around $200. One of those "slight cosmetic damage" things. I still don't know what was wrong with them, they look fine. So the only negative was having to go with matte black, as that's what they are. The only thing I feel I'm missing with them is the headphone jack on the newest model. But that would just be to compare them against my amp.

Got the Kanto Yu2 3" in bamboo finish for my desk and really really love them! Can't imagine these being worse than those.

@@Powerpickle68 For most people it's fine but they don't go any lower than 45 - 40 Hz so there's a lot you're losing. But bet it's enough bass for most people..

I like the fact these have a remote. I have the iLouds, and the lack of remote, plus the fact that the volume button is on the back of the unit, is a giant inconvenience. Spending $40 on a passive preamp seems so inelegant a solution.

A remote with bass and treble +/- control is a really nice to have. Excellent review Zeos. I looked at the YU6, and forgot about these.

I got these for my work from home desk and have zero regrets. In fact adding an external DAC between my laptop and these speakers (Topping E70 Velvet) has produced incredible detail.

I'm planning to use them as a soundbar substitute with the SUB6 connected analogue to the TV's headphone jack so I can use the TV's remote for volume and also get to use the TV's built-in virtual surround sound DSP. That's basically a 2.1ch soundbar but way better, 2-way drivers compared to a similarly priced soundbar. My living room is only 11x12ft.

All the Genelec products he has reviewed were sent to him by one viewer, and not provided for review by the manufacturer or a reseller. Given the price of Genelec products, Zeos won't be spending Patreon money to get them. So the answer to your question is "when someone who owns them sends them to him."

I wanna see more speaker monitor reviews, i love the iem and headphone reviews, but we need bookshelf and monitor reviews (KEF speakers!). I also wanna see some reviews on weird things like the Devialet Phantom/ Phantom Gold some a real hifi reviewer and not some rich tech reviewer.

@@duncanbannon Ended up returning them after a week. They were pretty good, but I heard the iLoud Micro Monitors and liked them better. Musician's Friend had them for $188, so that sealed it for me.

Amp? No. These are self-powered. A different DAC might.

The USB charger is definitely for people who use just laptop or mobile. Let's suppose I have just these speakers and phone at home and I am computer an alphabet. I could connect phone via BT and charge phone. I believe those speakers are just level up from sound bars.

For your laptop you could use a 3.5mm to RCA cable and make use of the in-built DAC. Alternatively you could run USB to an external DAC and run RCAs from it to the master speaker. You can also get USB to optical converters that’ll allow you to run an optical cable into the speaker assuming it takes optical like these YU4s do. Same goes for your PC with the exception of using the USB to optical converter as it’s very likely that your motherboard already has an optical output.

I dunno, RB42 along with the AD18 seems like competition to me. Similar price too. And amp upgrades. Can't upgrade amps and dacs in active speakers.

Exactly, that's why I like passive speakers personally. I use the Fluance SX6 with the Micca Dac/Amp rated @ 50wpc/rms. With a 70 watt Dayton plate amp with their 6 1/2 inch subwoofer kit. Sounds very good

Have you noticed hiss sound on the tweeters? It's audible when there's no music and you put the ear very close, seems like a floor or amp circuit noise, I got a pair of YU4 recently and I do hear as some other people as well. Thanks!
