10 жыл бұрынEarlier this year, Kanye West and Sway made headlines when Ye proclaimed that he gave Sway his first TV. For the first time since the incident in March, the two hip hop heads talk in person.
Their interview began with Sway expressing his appreciation for Kanye's Yeezus tour.
"My demo is the Yeezus tour." Says Ye. "Pure creativity... The Yeezus tour is more of a film, or broadway or play idea, Watch the Throne is more of a Rap idea."
Ye then began to discuss his production inspiration from greats like Diamond D & Showbiz.
From discussions of DONDA, to fashion, to the status of his Red Octobers, West passionately says...
"I am the #1 most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Walt Disney. Nike. Google... Do you want to marginalize me until I am out my moment?"
Sway's next question sparked excitement and passion from Kanye.
"Why don't you empower yourself, and don't need them, & do it yourself?" Asked Sway.
"You ain't got the answers Sway!" Shouts Ye. "You ain't spent 13 million dollars of your own money trying to empower yourself!"
After the quick heated conversation, they both brought their talk back to music. Why was Pusha T & Big Sean not on the tour? Why did he mention that Nicki Minaj had the best verse on Monster?

His mother has passed away, he's married to a woman who can forever be seen online, getting plowed and giving head to another man, and I'm sure his profession makes it so he rarely gets sleep. This was terrific and very interesting. 2 strong personalities clashed for a moment but they were able to reel it back in. This shit made me subscribe. Look Kanye is a very passionate person and he has been wronged a lot. He probably felt criticized but Sway did an outstanding job of bringing Kanye back into a comfortable place and Kanye humbled himself and shared his woes. The industry people try to trick black, high profile people right back out of their money with bad investments or other ways. That was real love Sway showed and that heat brought very valuable info out of Kanye and then he explained beautifully.

When Kanye said that Sway ranked him 6 after Big Sean, it wasn’t about the literal ranking that he cared about. The point he was making is that him breaking into an unknown industry as a black man using his own money means he doesn’t rap as much and thus is overall relevancy goes down which still affects the clothing line he’s trying to create. Now he’s a billionaire and he did it all and his music is still relevant! Ye a legend.

Of course if I wanted to live in the sticks I could do the same. But I don't. Rural areas are usually not so black guy friendly. However, my question was more so about what you did that was cool. Engineers are necessary and all, but that's boring. What artist skills do you have? You're criticizing someone else's idea of art, so what do you do that's artistic? I WILL ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN KANYE WEST. For the people that don't get it, I think Kanye ends up explaining himself pretty throughly, You just have to know how to read people. Of course he's immensely egotistical, but all he wants is acceptance into a fashion elite that won't take him. (Now that's his personal problem, and he's publicly complaining, but we all flock to twitter and Facebook and our BFFs when we have a bad day at school or get fired, or have our life crises. These interviews are like his Fb.) Secondly, people from his own community, his original roots, a lot of rap fans are calling him gay for liking fashion, and that upsets him. And finally music-wise, even though he's a hugely popular artist, he still doesn't feel like he has any real control over it. It's the suits that are writing the checks. He specifically mentions Lucian Grainge, a quick google search tells me that guy is one of the highest-ranking music executives today. Kanye's reached a glass ceiling with his sucess and he can't seem to break through it. When he talks about race, his specific problems with fashion might not seem like a big deal to most, but it reflects the wider issues of systemic racism. Sure his ego is unappealing to many, and you can brush him off as an asshole, but that doesn't mean there aren't racial and class barriers at play. His highly emotional reactions have deep rooted implications about society and the entertainment industry in particular.
