Jay Electronica gets that type of respect from his peers. He is seen as an all time great MC even though he hasnt had mainstream success or acclaim. Finishing projects or albums has nothing to do with being great. You just have to be great. Jay Elect has like a hundred plus songs out there. Albums are a recent phenomenon in music created by record companies to increase profits and exploit artists. Before that people released singles. He's actually correct, especially about that feeling that Nas is just ordained to be GOAT. Think about it. Nas and HipHop are the same age. HipHop is known for its roots in Jazz. Well, guess whose father happens to be a Jazz musician. Then Nas messes around and makes the greatest HipHop album ever even before he was old enough to drink legally. That album Illmatic would go on to break the mould of rappers sticking to one producer per project. Thirty years later, Nas releases six albums in three years with a single producer - at a quality that makes a great argument for rappers to stick to one producer per project. I could go on and on. Nas is easily the closest thing we'll ever have to HipHop in the flesh.
