Donda is not Kanye’s best album but it definitely has some of Kanye’s best work on there. If we’re giving ratings relative to an artists catalogue, it’s really rare to have an artist dropping an album with several 10/10s almost 20 years after their debut album..

This song had me full blown crying. 6 months ago I flew out to San Diego to undergo open heart surgery (I was diagnosed with stage IV CTEPH & Congestive heart failure, labeled as inoperable at first, then was told I'd live ~2 years left to live). Man, up until I got the phone call to fly out for surgery, I was at the lowest possible point mentally/physically/emotionally. Just the absolute definition of depressed. The only thing I can tell you is that no matter how low life brings you, you can't give up. You have to hold onto something and call it hope.

that’s how I described this album to my wife today. took me a few rotations of the album to realize this, and a lot of lyric reading. it’s not only an ode to his beloved mother, it’s his first full acceptance of her death, and his beginning of moving forward.

I was at the second listening party and we didnt have the childhood home, but we had Kim there walking and this song served as like a type of release valve of all of the emotions in the stadium in Atlanta. It was completely silent and you could literally feel everyone's last year's worth of depression and pain lifting in that building while this played. Best birthday present I have ever and will probably ever receive in my life. Shout to my big bro David for the once in a lifetime experience! Great reaction as usual Jon!

I feel what you’re talking about with Spaceship. For me it was with Runaway. That destroyed my mental state for like 2 weeks straight. I was in my first relationship and my mental health was declining so much. I felt like she should just escape from me. I was listening to the Kanye albums for the first time. Runaway came on and I almost bawled while sitting in Geometry listening to it the first time 😂 Runaway got me through that time and I will never forget what it did for me. It got me out of that tough relationship and is the reason I was able to escape it without having suicidal thoughts. Kanye saved my mental health and my ego. Runaway is the most powerful song I will ever listen to period Anyways great reaction, this song is amazing too. I missed LP3 so when I listened to this song on YT the day after LP3, I almost bawled my eyes out

FYI the visuals to the music video, are different to the visuals from the listening event. In the listening event, ye catches fire at the final verse of the song, and then Kim comes out for no child left behind, whereas in the music video obvi it’s a bit of a mashup. IMO the whole Ye catching on fire hits so much harder in the live listening party than it does here in the music video.

One thing I took from the room burning is that it looked identical to his makeshift bedroom in the stadium and the title come to life refers to the release of the album and now he's done working on he he can just burn all that down and move on to the next chapter

I am an atheist no disrespect to any religion I went to Church read the bible, it was not for me but none of that matters because I am hanging on his every word I want to hear his experiences and the influence in the music. Kanye is so intriguing and has musical brilliance you are there for him he takes you by the hand and takes control, your just there to experience it he doesn't alienate people with it it's genius.
