Had an 86 500cr. Bought it from a guy with a broken wrist, ankle and 3 ribs. His crashed on it the week before. He needed money for his medical Bill's and because his wife said no more cr500. I had it for 2 years. A monster. Rode it in the black rock desert ( where they hold burning man). It would scream across the playa. I'd been racing and riding 20 years and it was they only bike that caused the hair to stand up on my neck at times. I was getting a little older and sold it. At times it was a bitch to start and my right foot would go numb on those days. Glad I had the opportunity to have owned it.

I've owned 35 plus bikes and ridden many more. There is nothing more terrifying than the power of an '85' CR 500. I've never seen anyone that could actually use all that power but if excess is what you crave, the CR 500 has it.

Nasty is an understatement!! I bought My 85' CR500 from the 2nd owner had original Honda country of origin documents with it. first owner was Phil or Mike Larson (can't remember which one) who competed in national motocross on it. I added an FMF nickel pipe, bored, ported/polished head, decked head, Ohlins shock, it was LETHAL Honda did not joke around with the 1st water cooled 500. Only thing I would change on yours is the number plate backing to yellow 😉

I can remember as a young man going into our local dealer which happened to be a Kawasaki/Yamaha dealer feeling the excitement of going in to buy your new bike! I tell ya there’s nothing like a crisp sounding two stroke! These kids today I don’t think can fully relate because the fours are so groggy sounding! They don’t interest me one bit! That’s a bad ass bike though! Nice job and good to see someone love our hobby/sport so much ! Can’t wait to have the time to tour your shop!
