This video gives a short introduction to the Kaplan, Francis and Pelton type hydroelectric turbines; the video also briefly mentions the Deriaz and Crossflow type hydroelectric turbines.
The categories of reaction and impulse turbines are explained. Applications for each turbine type are discussed as well as the reason each turbine is suitable for its chosen application. Design factors concerning the head of pressure and flow rates are displayed using a 3D graph.
Pump storage is also briefly mentioned.
