Sensei you are amazing. The general idea of this strategy is very interesting, I really like the way of thinking. But I have to admit that these technics are only designed for Shotokan style of pointfighting tournaments. Please keep the good work on. Do you have some tactics for real street-defense or streetfighting. I really would like to see some aplications against larger opponents on the street in one of your excellent future video projects. I think the real Karate spirit lies in kata-bunkai street- real- life applications. Thank you so much for your efforts Sensei.

8:50- this reminds me of a rear hand straight counter I used. The timing is tricky because I have to move forward as I am doing an inside parry with the lead hand and get my feet set to really drive with a palm heel strike to the abdomen. Ideally, they are still moving forward when the palm heel strike lands and their movement will add to the force of the blow. The risk is missing the parry and my forward movement adding force to the punch I am eating. So I didn't use this all the time. Only when I felt I had a good read on my opponents timing.

@Karate Dojo waKu When you do roundhouse kicks, in karate, is it okay if you drop what becomes your lead hand? Such as at 3:25 and that series of kicks, the right roundhouse kick causes you to drop your right hand. Or is that something that you need to improve (keeping your guard up)?

I instinctively do most of these. I'm the shortest male in my dojo at 5'6 and I have to attack the lower body and link to the midsection or upper mid section since we can't punch to the face in Kyokushin type sparring. Two combinations I use are gedan mawashi geri, gyakuzuki and furi uchi or a chudan mawashi geri, furi uchi and ushiro geri.
@honigdachs.
@honigdachs. 4 жыл бұрын
Second one sounds difficult Do you land the furi uchi with the same side hand as the mawashi geri, or is it right leg kick, left hand punch?
@tokenstandpoint93
@tokenstandpoint93 4 жыл бұрын
@@honigdachs. This combo is normally done later in the match after I have a rythm because my opponent shell up and leave the hidari side open. I start with the migi mawashi geri and follow up with the hidari furi uchi. The furi uchi is near the liver area. They hunch to the side stunned and leave the chudan open. This gives me a chance to adjust my foot work for the migi ushiro geri.
@honigdachs.
@honigdachs. 4 жыл бұрын
@@tokenstandpoint93 Lots of hip action in there. Never actually drilled that combo, a good one for today's bob/heavy bag session!
@tokenstandpoint93
@tokenstandpoint93 4 жыл бұрын
@@honigdachs. if you're going to try it pay attention to foot positioning and the timing. It's very awkward to pull off. In fact I came up with that combo after getting drilled with a liver shot during my mukyu promotion. Yep tons of hip work goes into it. Once I recover from my injury I'm focusing on aligning my technique for my chudan furi uchi. I'm not generating enough power in the punch because I'm not using my hips effectively. Then again I also have to drastically work on my leg strength and flexibility.

I like to use the "troll kick* where I step forward as if I'm about to kick, so he lowers his guard to block it, then punch his face nice and fast instead. It mostly works for karate or Teakwondo. Not so much in MMA. It may only work once or twice.
