This podcast will discuss the Karbala incident in light of reality versus fiction.
The Karbala Incident, also known as the Battle of Karbala, occurred on October 10, 680 AD (10th Muharram, 61 AH) in present-day Iraq. It was a pivotal moment in Islamic history, where the forces of Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph, confronted a small group led by Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Husayn's refusal to pledge allegiance to Yazid's unjust rule led to this confrontation. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Husayn and his companions fought valiantly but were ultimately massacred. This tragic event is commemorated annually during Muharram, particularly on the day of Ashura, and is a symbol of resistance against tyranny and injustice in Shia Islam.
