I've reacted to Archspire once before, but for some reason never really dug into their discography. HOLY COW I need to make up for lost time! The musicianship here is unreal. I Love how Oli manages to vocalize ad breakneck speeds and still keep from dominating the song. If the rest of their discography is this strong, homies, I'm gonnna have to Stay Tech!

I think I heard Dean discuss it in an interview, but _apparently_ for some of Oli's exceptionally long vocal lines, he developed some kind of inhale technique. It allows him to do traditional false cord growls and then seamlessly continue the same line, but while inhaling. Now, I don't know how accurate this is, but it may be worth asking Oli about it if you ever do get the chance to interview him.

@ADayinWhite
@ADayinWhite 6 ай бұрын
@@sethmartin8038 I'm also guessing that's the basis for it. What's interesting is that he's able to maintain the same vocal tonality as when he breathes out, which is quite a step above just the breathing element.

its an inhale technique where he cuts the airflow in between each syllable. Its not for doing longer lines, its just to give the fast delivery a unique texture. He does it on the line "nothing ever written could define the global hell to follow."

But there is something extremely enjoyable about listening to them in the car or headphones and just fully immersing in the music and vocals. Great video! Love this song and the insane delivery of the vocals therein. Another band you should be talking about is Disembodied Tyrant and Blake Mullens, who wrote and produced everything in his project. I know a lot of people have talked about the song he did with Synestia and Ben Duerr, "The Poetic Edda," but their other song on the single/EP is "I, the Devourer" where Blake does the vocals. And wow, his vocals are great! There are some particularly disgustingly tasty moments at the end of the song, but really the whole song is fantastic as well. I do hope you'll check it out on the channel sometime. 🙂
