I went out to dinner last night with my ex/best friend. It was a major milestone birthday for me. No, we didn’t feel the need to tell anyone at the restaurant. We ended up getting our server a commendation! It was so busy, especially for a Monday evening. Our server was just amazing. It was the second time in a row that this young woman had served us. Both times just outstanding service. It probably wouldn’t be much for a lot of people to write home about, but I’m a slow eater. Always have been. When I was a sever I didn’t even bother to sit down and eat. I’d just grab a bite when I had a second. Slow eaters can be a nightmare for most servers. You’re supposed to turn the table as fast as you can, with your manager riding your ass like it’s your fault. Instead, she was so warm and welcoming. She didn’t rush me. She didn’t stick a to go box in my face - that has happened to me on three different occasions. She just patiently and kindly got me another Coke. When I finished, ex had a full beer in front of him. I excused myself and I found the manager standing at the bar. I explained the outstanding service we received twice in a row from this server. I went into detail about me eating slow and how kind she was, etc. He shook my hand and told me he was going to give her a commendation for it! Yes! That’s wonderful! He also told me that she had just been prompted and starts her new job next week. That made my birthday! We tipped the crap out of her!! ❤️

Story 1: Yeah, i can totally see why Valentines Day-week would be a nightmare for floral workers. Show someone how much you love them on some random cold day in February. As for the Kevin and Karen here... well hoenstly, i wouldn't consider the husband a "Kevin" here really, as he really did mean well and the symbolism of the yellow and white roses. People like that are just trying to scam free stuff. Story 3: Here we have another table who just want to go to a restaurant to act like a total knob. The table knew everything closed at 9, so you can't reasonably complain or leave a negative review here. They didn't even want the drinks! Why should the OP make any kind of exception for them? Also, good on the assistant manager for talking the higher up manager/s about not having a disciplinary meeting over this. If the OP was going to be disciplined over that, they wouldve had every right to just quit on the spot. I know i would've. Think its time for the OP to get a new job. Story 4: Okay, the OP's biggest mistake here was working for free or without payment in the past for her bf. While its still stupid to ask and expect someone to work for free, you now cant be throwing stones at the bf for expecting it over a 3-day festival. You've really fed into his poor behavior and business practices here. You worked for nothing before, so he's pretty much going to expect it all the time, especially on a big event like this one. The bf is certainly a jerk for his attitude and unwillingness to pay, but the OP is no saint either for allowing stuff like this in the past. This is big reason why people should be careful with volunteering, you'll always get used.

first story: Not that I understand the desire to have things just to make other people feel bad about not having them, but if it's about how much 'he loves me' wouldn't the attention to detail and care of choice be more desireable than just some generic thing that everybody got? Ok what’s the big deal about having to have a dozen red roses! My dad always gives my mom a single red rose and and Next year I plan on giving my girlfriend a single pink carnation for Valentine’s Day because I’ve always loved carnations representation of love that is constantly over looked and pink is her favorite color. Honestly flower are not even that important! One of the best valentines gifts I have ever received was a cheep valentines mug with a sloth in it. The last story: I think the boyfriend isn't quite aware that he taking advantage of his girlfriend. The girlfriend helped him plenty of times without asking for compensation so I think in his mind he sees that as the norm and he doesn't see it any differently if she will be helping out at the food festival. She needs to tell him that now that he has a good reputation in the food business and is flourishing that she can't help him for free anymore since it isn't fair she has to sacrifice her time, energy and sweat only to be given a simple thank you at the end of the day. Though to be honest the boyfriend does seem to be a bit of penny pincher if he doesn't want to celebrate with his girlfriend if they are successful in making a lot of money during the festival.

Story 3: I work at an attraction that serves alcohol. There are two food locations very close to the entrance. See the problem? We have a last call on those spots that coincides with the entrance closing (attraction gives guests an hour after that to leave). It’s just to keep folks from trying to LEAVE with beer, which is a big no-no. There are still more spots for beer for another 30 min. True they’re on opposite ends of the attraction but what can u do? Sadly SOME PEOPLE complain about the cutoff. Bars have last call, we have last call.

My ex gf was this bad... I would get her nice things because my heart was always telling me to do so but she would always ask "how much was this stuff?" And "My guy friend got me something much nicer..." and a whole plethora of awful things that broke me mentally. She even poked fun at my depression and downplayed it because she felt like she should say whatever and get away with it. She cheated on me with 4 other guys (that I knew of) and would spend her money and time with those other guys on birthdays and holidays. Does anyone know what it's like to sit alone in a car wondering why you did what you did for someone and they don't even care? Because of her, I ended up losing my mind and my job, I lost both my vehicles and i can't even find a job because of fear of being abused by any employer and my parents think I'm a bum... even though I hide my depression and anger because no one cares enough to sit in with me and try to encourage me. The little life I have is slowly being stripped away and my decision to end it all has never been more solid.. probably the only thing I'd be good at. I'm gonna make it extravagant too... but hey, my problems won't be anyone else's problems 😂 Needless to say, for now, my driving force in life has been waiting to watch the world needlessly tear itself apart for values that won't mean anything in the end and it's just selfish to take others lives for granted 😅

I don't think that Karen's husband is a Kevin at all, from what I hear in the story he seems like a pretty romantic and a nice guy. It's Karen that doesn't care all that much about his love and just wants to look "good" in front of (or exactly like) the others. I wonder what was her reaction when he told her the truth (if he did) and what this bouquet actually represented. God, I would love to see the look on her face by then and know she at least realized how stupid she was.

I will say having worked as a line cook in a restaurant before I don’t think it was necessarily because they didn’t care that ticket machine can go on for a good five minutes straight I’ve just printing out orders and each ticket has anywhere from four dishes up to however many people are at the table it’s rare but I’ve seen ones that are literally for 30 people or more and you have to remember me how many dishes there are of each but you have to take care of what are any side parts of any other dishes that another cook might be in charge of do you have to do and so on it’s really easy to skip over the dish for an order especially large ones and we would regularly have to cook dishes on the fly I worked there for about three years and overall it was just too labor-intensive

I'm sorry but if there's a table of 16 fucking people, it's usually to celebrate an occasion, most likely a birthday, so I'd have to disagree with the narrator on this one when they said "anyone past the age of 21 should not use it's my birthday." It's literally the reason they're there, so I'd hope the restaurant cares enough to at least serve the celebrant at the same time, if not first. Most restaurants where I'm from ask if there is an occassion when there's a large group, so they know who NOT to forget to give food to. To clarify it's not the server's fault (though they could've just been honest instead of a fumbling wreck and just told Karen it was the back's fault), but I understand Karen's frustrations (especially after OP knew she'd been waiting longer for her food yet served the additional guy first, that felt deliberate ngl).

Story 3: Yeah, her friends instigated that whole thing. She could've said no or negotiate compensation before she made the committment.
