As a drummer I can tell you it takes a massive amount of concentration to do it at this level
@nick-dq1hh2 жыл бұрын
@@pureheaven8647 It’s farrrr easier if you started playing drums and singing at the same time. Many people who seem like naturals at it started both at the same time. I know I’m saying the obvious, all you do naturally is separate your breathing from certain body actions. A lot of players, like guitar players like me, hold their breathe in specific ways when they play. And they reinforce that over time. People who do breathe work at the same time as playing, separate the two. And some people just have the pure luck of doing that when they were young. Jimi Hendrix said he sang because everyone else was singing. Who knows the reasons, but people who sing and play the same time don’t have a superpower, it’s more that others don’t realize the abilities they have if they change their perception of their normal body engagement.
@Raydoesitintime2 жыл бұрын
@@pureheaven8647 I don’t think that’s the case for her. I can easily sing and play drums. I know amazing drummers that have played for decades and can’t bring it to themselves to do it. You either can or can’t type of thing

the only "criticism" I've seen of her drumming is that she didn't play very loudly... which, having worked with loud male rock drummers for much of my life, is a GOOD THING. she was tiny, and she played with finness, not power (although she hit hard, there just wasn't the body weight behind it), and I prefer that any day of the week.

As Carpenters manager, I'd've made sure Karen stayed on those drums for the entirety of her entire career. People complained that they couldn't properly see her onstage, or that she wasn't acting "ladylike." Please! We had enough female singers like Barbra and Diana who "just" stood there with the microphone...Karen had two legs up on them by being an instrumentalist, an actual musician. That should have been CELEBRATED, not DENIGRATED. Rest In Power, Karen. 🤍

This breaks my heart. I started playing drums recently. As a beginner, I can see how incredibly quickly she picked up the drums and I can see how much she LOVED it and LIVED for it. She was meant to play drums. But they forced her to sing. Yes, she had one of the most gorgeous voices of the 1900s, but she perhaps died for it. How much better would she - an artist - have done if they had let her play the thing she as MOST talented at AND loved the most - playing the drums. I can only hope to be as good as she is here after playing for maybe 5-6 years, and she had playing for I think maybe 2 or 3 years at this point PLUS singing at the same time. She was a genius.

anyone who have ever tried to play the drums knows how hard it could be, anyone who have ever tried to sing knows how hard it could be. Anyone who have ever tried to play something while singing knows how freaking hard it is... and anyone who have ever tried to play the drums and sing know for sure the extreme difficult behind that.
