the funniest part about the karens who don't like being recorded is that they are freaking out in a public space, making it perfectly legal to record them, because, in such a public space, they do not have a reasonable expectation for privacy.

My dad threw fits about chalk. We were not allowed to draw on the sidewalk or brickwork because he hated seeing it. Our children drew pictures for him after he died... in chalk, on the path and wall. We love you, grandpa.

I actually experienced my own first Karen encounter.... Her poor teen daughter wouldn't even look near us. We were at the mall(my two kids and I) and my son went to walk away. Thank God my brother was with us because this woman sped at my son(he's 4) as if to hit him, rolled down her window while my brother and I are panicking, clinging to my oldest child, his sister screaming from the car cause she didn't know what was happening(she's 3) and this woman DOUBLES BACK, ROLLS DOWN HER WINDOW AND SAYS POINT BLANK "If you were a better mother, your son wouldn't have been close enough to the road." 😒 Naturally we reported it to the officer in the building but nothing was done about it. Just a 'if we see her' as she walks in behind us.

To be fair, loud cars in apartments are especially annoying. This one man would leave at 5:30am each morning in his muscle-car that was altered to be extra loud. As a child of a karen, I actively strive to be as kind and understand to people as possible. I don’t know if all “Karens” do this but I know my mom treated me and my siblings the same way she treated everyone else, and I try as hard as I can to not spread her toxicity through me because if I do, then she’s won.

This reminds me of when I had a male Karen when I was a manager at a Captain D's. Guy came through the drive thru and ordered a family pack with premium sides. Everything was fine and he paid after I told him the total twice. After I give him the food he asked why the sides were extra, explained they're premium sides and those cost extra. He said the sign on the drive thru didn't say that (it does), I explained it does say that. He decided they didn't want the food anymore and gave it back, asked for a refund. I issued the refund and gave him back his card. He asked if the money was back on it and I explained that it takes 3-5 business days. He said he wanted his refund in cash then. Told him that's not possible because I already gave him the refund. He asked to speak to the manager, I explained I was the manager. He said he wanted to talk to someone over me (he thought the teenage boy behind me was my boss, I'm a petite woman). My boss happens to walk in even though she was supposed to go home since she saw the commotion. She asked what the problem was, I explained to her the situation. She told him basically the same thing I did. He said he wasn't leaving the drive thru til he got his money back, but he was yelling in her face. She told him to have a goodnight and proceeded to close and lock the window in front of him (this was during COVID so the inside of the restaurant was not open to the public). I had to sneak out the back door and explain to all the people in my drive thru that the line wasn't moving because we had to call the police on a man that refused to move. The people in line were apologizing to me that I had to deal with someone like that. Guy in a big truck pulls up to Mr.I want the money back you already refunded me. He's yelling at him to move and thankfully before it got bad between the two men the police showed up, made the man move and explained to him that we did not rob him because we issued a refund. (Forgot to add the guy told us prior to closing the window because of this he had no money to feed his family) Guy tells police he has more money to go somewhere else but it was the "principle" of the matter he was upset with. Might I add this man was in a fancy little sports car and his poor family looked so embarrassed by his actions, wife kept trying to make him go somewhere else, and kids were very quiet trying to hide their faces out of embarrassment. I feel for his family having to deal with a guy like that everyday.
