I’m a disabled vet and have had a situation like this with parking my suv. I have disabled vet plates and am 90% disabled. I don’t normally park in a handicap spot unless A: I’m in a large amount of pain or B: there is absolutely no other place to park. A man confronted me once saying I didn’t look disabled to him and I should be ashamed. I pointed at my DV plates, he said that means nothing and it probably wasn’t my vehicle. I then pulled my wind pants down ( I had shorts on underneath) and showed the huge scar on my leg were a titanium nail was inserted, along with the huge mechanical knee braces I have to wear. then pulled up my shirt and showed my back which has multiple large scars from multiple back surgeries. He got mad and walked out of the store embarrassed. Several costumers came and shook my hand and said that man has a habit of being an asshole.

I had a incident where a mom yelled at me on my range shift for telling her kid how to use the gun he wanted to shoot, I told him to wait until I set up the stand for him but his mom let him shoot the gun while I was setting up the gun stand and shot me through my ankle pretending it was a wand and they both just ran away dropping the gun luckily we had security cameras so the police found them.

My father has a restaurant and had an encounter with a Karen, it all went well but then she yelled “Don’t you know who I am?!” And he just calmly replied with “Nope, and I don’t give a damn f**k about who you are, lady. You’re just an arrogant, ignorant lady who thinks she’s better than everyone else.” It worked and the lady left with the face of defeat.

fuck that dude should've responded with fine "you want to call the police? fine I'll do it for you and have you and your children removed for ignoring basic safety rules and acting dangerously on a range." and i'm willing to bet thats exactly what the police would've done in that situation....she may not have been arrested but I'm willing to bet they would've been removed from the premises although personally think even a small range should have a safety officer(unless its not a legit range and is just a burm you shoot at which point....WATCH YOUR FUCKING KIDS)

Story 2. My Range Master would be losing his shit and that kid would end up with new parents via Child Protective Services, for child endangerment in a setting where it would become very lethal very fast. She endangered that kids life, it doesn't matter if there was only 1 person on the firing line or if they were using bows with blunted tips. None of that matters. She willingly took her child downrange and offered herself and the kid as targets.

It is amazing how hypocritical most Karen stories are... like the last one, where the Karen called OP rude and intentionally embarrassing him by removing her leg, when HE made a scene intentionally embarrassing her for parking in the first place. You can't make a scene and then complain when your own rudeness and ignorance is exposed to the crowd you created...

Please explain to me how the mother thinks it’s fine for her kids to play at an archery range not to mention while someone is shooting arrows. What kind of half wit would call a bow and arrows toys and not think that the kids could have been injured or killed by a stray arrow or if they ran in front of him just as he looses an arrow?

First story: Not a jerk. Karen has to learn how to listen. Second story: Not a jerk. Karen could have injured the op and her kids badly or even worse losing a life. In the last story, if the op said that she has mobility issues and show the placard. The man could have think she is faking it. So, she still has still prove that she has a prosthetic leg anyways. So, not a jerk.

When the OP got called to the constable's office and got cookies gave me a Vietnam-flashback; One day in 1st grade, i missed the private ride my school had for us students. I was very scared, and to make my small panic attack worse, one of the teachers asked me to come with her to the teachers' lounge. Students got usually called there if a teacher was going to scold them, so i was on-edge to having a panic attack. But, once i got to the lounge - there was a few other teachers who i was familiar with, since in my first school 99% of the students and teachers knew each other in friend-level - the teacher asked if i'd like some soda and cookies, which made me relieved that i wasnt in trouble after all. I think this was one of the first moments in my life that i was stress-eating, since while i was eating, my mom was contacted by the teacher - and i happen to have a "grizzly mama bear" kind of mom, unfortunately..

The disabled story made me laugh because it made me think of this one time. I borrowed my adopted grandma's car, it had a disabled plaque on it, I'm not disabled so I didn't use it to my advantage, but still found a close spot and parked in that one. A man drove up to me and yelled at me for taking a close, non handicapped parking spot when I have the tag to park in a handicap spot. I told him I'm not handicapped and was saving those for people who really needed them.

So one time at my school (26 years ago btw) we had an archery range There were 2 types of arrows, suction cups, and piercing arrows There were a bunch of kids all shapes and sizes so one of the kids got a piercing arrow and shot it at the target The tension on the string was enough to push 90lbs if not shot properly so that kid was pushed back and he slammed into another person That caused their bow to go off and a piercing arrow zoomed past my face(that boy was about 6 foot 3) and my face and mental state were scarred for a long time About a couple of months That time I learned a lesson Don't let small kids use powerful bows

Last story: She could have told him first and given him a chance to give up. Also, her friends are used to her being like this or they wouldn't even ask her to drive. It probably surprised them that she took it so personally. However, I would have found it funny rather than embarrassing. Furthermore, she probably felt it was warranted considering the guy's rude attitude. You do not just pull off your leg if someone politely complains about you taking his spot. He got mad and called her young/rude. He started the argument so he deserved whatever response he got.

Absolutely NOT a jerk for taking the leg off! If the guy whining about the parking space truly was disabled, then he would know that handicapped parking placards are not given out to just anybody. If the poster didn't have a placard displayed that would be one thing, but with that placard visible, who does he think he is to second guess the medical professionals that approved that placard? He DEFINITELY deserved it!

Definitely awesome that she took off her leg... I was a little more for today and it took over a year to save my leg that they wanted to cut off twice and the infections almost killed me twice... but my leg does look like it went through a meat grinder... I give this girl a lot of Kudos because even if she tried to explain it he wouldn't have believed her and she handled this situation expertly... I know the story of the range that's for sure there was only one public free range in New York state and now they have since closed that one... so you can imagine how busy it got especially since there was only four lanes of varying distance... I was waiting once because we got there early because it's always crowded and was waiting for about 2 hours and 15 minutes... Another car pulled up about 2 hours after we were there chatting it up with someone who was in that lane and when they were packing up to leave he decided he was going to try and take the lane on my wife was driving due to my handicap... I am more able-bodied now... he pulled in and he started backing up and almost hit us if it weren't for my wife laying on the horn... He decided he was going to take the line anyway and I wasn't having any of it I come to find out that he was actually Homeland Security and I'm sure they have their own ranges that they can use... I took his plane information and his picture in case I ever ran into him again but now that seems to be a moot point... I don't like to have to report anyone but if I had the same encounter later I certainly would have

For story #2, the OP in question was not a jerk, I say he was too nice and lenient in that story. And it reminded me of a similar situation I was part of once. I used to be a Rifle Range Instructor for a Boy Scout summer camp. During orientation I tell the boys that they get 1 warning, and THIS was it, the ONLY safe direction to point the rifles were either up in the air, or down range, NO EXEPTIONS! (Except for when we were cleaning the rifles and they were taken apart) Every morning before the merit badge classes we would review the rules, and they were posted in plain sight for everyone to see. During an open shoot one entitled kid, took his empty rifle and pointed it towards his friend and quoted some action movie line, thinking he was being funny. I yanked the gun from his hands, made him recite the rules that he broke, then told him to hand me his week long shooting ticket he purchased. I tore it up in front of him and said he was done on my range for the week. A few hours later the entitled kid returns with his father, an assistant scout master for their troop AND a police officer, with a smug look on his face he looked at me and said, "I told my Dad what you did, He's a Cop! You're in trouble now!" His father chewed me out for a couple of minutes, I just stood there with a sh!t eating grin on my face, when the father stopped yelling at me I asked him, "Did your son tell you WHY I kicked him off my range?" The officer told me that his son did not. Credit to the entitled kid, he told his father exactly why I kicked him off my range. The Father was FURIOUS with his son, chewed him out twice as bad and three times as long as he did me! The Father sent his son back to their camp site then apologized to me for chewing me out before hand. During the week the father would come to my range daily and we became friends, I even told him near the end of the week I was considering letting his son back on the range. He couldn't earn his merit badge, but he could get more practice shots in for next time. The father told me NO! That I have my rules for a reason, and I needed to see them through no matter what. He told me after camp HE will finish his sons merit badge, and that he will make sure his son will NEVER make that mistake again. Admittedly I felt bad for the kid and what kind of training he was going to get from his father. But, he messed up on my range, I had my rules, and in the end I followed through with enforcing them when the entitled kid broke them. This story probably can have it's own segment on a future, 'Am I The Jerk' video. Bottom line, The OP in the second story was NOT the Jerk, and I think he should have kept a closer eye on the Karen's kids and their actions on the range. But for anyone who read my story above, I have to ask, Am I the Jerk?

The archery warning is super true, my dad let me use a bow in our back yard (I was 14 and he was watching the whole time) and it wasn’t a compound bow (I have stick arms and didn’t have the strength) it was just a regular bow, it was my first time so I was missing a lot, and ended up hitting the tin shed in the far corner, I didn’t think anything of it until I realised I’d made a HOLE in the shed. It’s not thin metal. The arrow ended up at least 5cm into the shed. Bows are DEFINITELY NOT toys.

3rd story, if I were her friend I would jump down then and there before that man walked away and yell "say sorry to her, show some respect to the sick and suffering" and afterward I'd show all the other friends how disappointed I am that they actually think she was in the wrong Woman has to go live her life missing her leg and had to go through therapy for her ptsd, support her and be happy that she actually went through all that and still take you out you ungrateful bunch

I completely understand about the arrows, there was only 1 time I got to use one. It was in primary school as a planned activity on a school camp, and out of all of us only ONE of us hit the target and it wasn't even in the range. So I totally get where the OP is coming from, and honestly should have told someone immediately.

I'm in something similar to that first story except it's basically junior air force, it's called Civil Air Patrol. I have a fear that something similar would happen to me, someone would see me in ABU's and instantly think I'm actually an adult in the Air Force (I'm 15 but have been told i look 20+ especially when i haven't shaved).

So I worked at a private summer camp and ran archery there. Pretty chill activity most of the time, and gave me a lot of time to talk and bond with the campers who came to the activity. At the beginning of every session I and my colleague run through safety and proper handling of the bows, and more importantly the crossbow. So one day we have a girl who loaded a crossbow, flipped off the safety and turned around and pointed the loaded crossbow at my colleague. Had her finger slipped, he would’ve had a bolt in his gut. Now it’s worth noting that these are kids and while it was a very stupid thing it was not done with any ill intent. They weren’t allowed to touch the crossbow the rest of the day as a result but it came very close to disaster

As someone who shoots a compound bow fairly often (i think draw strength is 25-30 pounds but it shoots 50-60 if im correct) i can confirm that they can pierce many things and are not to be messed around with.

yeah..last story resonates with me as i have extreme scoliosis and had a spinal surgery when i was 16 and again when i was 20...and even at 36 i need a third one...to replace broken rods...point being ive walked with a cane since 16 and have been disabled all my life...yet people constantly berrate me and talk down to me that i must be perfectly fine as i can still walk "normally" [the cane is only really for when my pain gets too bad or i have to walk slowly...walking fast doesnt bother me as much as it keeps me in motion and less time for my body to want to try and rest...dont ask me, i dont get it either] ive gotten out of vehicles, even when i am not the driver [as i cant see well to drive] and been talked down to that i have no business being in the parking space considering i am so young and blah blah blah. gets very aggrivating, to be honest
