The old man hosting the party was an absolute legend. When he found out how those two guys were acting, not only did he approve of OP's methods of dealing with it, he got in on it himself. Love it. Lesson of the day: If you act like you're the boss, then you're going to have to take responsibility like the boss should.

I once kept a dog for a neighbor that had to jet out to the east coast on short notice. Our neighborhood Karen somehow processed that this meant she could try to dump her terrier off on me with zero notice before she went on vacation. I honestly might have agreed... until Karen told me she didn't want me going to work or leaving my place for the week because her animal can't be left alone... LOL! HELL NAW!!

With the first story about the lawn mowing I get it, when I lived with my family abroad I would help by mowing the lawn in the property and just out side, when ever I did the outside I would go up and down and do the neighbours as well, they always thanked me for it and I felt really happy. Funny enough when I first started doing that I wasn't really aware that you don't mow wet grass, never had to think about it, it was the neighbours that told me to wait for it to dry before continuing. It's amazing how many people will do neighbourly stuff just for the good feeling of helping and the cold water helps a lot on a hot day. But honestly if someone like that did that I wouldn't of worked with such fault equipment, but I am fully on his side.

Also if you mow wet softened wet ground, the mowers wheels will sink in and leave a washboard effect in the ground. Pain in the ass and can’t be fixed without tearing out the lawn. Been a landscaper since the 80s

I totally agree - during our 'lockdown', I started mowing the tiny lawn of my next-door neighbour, as I knew she had a bad back (she was a funeral director, who took care of my late partners' funeral for me), as well as that of a young lady who rented the 1 bed property across the road (I found out she did not own a mower, and asked her mum to come over with hers in her car to do it!), even after she moved I carried on, as the new tenant is a nurse and works odd shifts (and is still recovering from a cycle accident)! 3 years on, I still do theirs every time I do mine...

Honestly if the boss throwing the party wasn't so cool it could have been a lot worse for that waiter. A contract is a contract and he should have confirmed that the people who told him to shut up were ACTUALLY the ones throwing the party before violating that contract. Until confirmation only the "Approved" items should have been ordered under the terms of the contract. Waiter got lucky, cause that was gonna be his job.

Story #1 I can totally relate to, I had an elderly lady on one side of me, who's husband was only sporadically in the picture, and a vacant lot on the other side, and a friendly neighbor next to the vacant lot who let me use his 2nd assigned parking place. So since it wasn't too much more effort to mow 4 tiny postage stamp yards than one, I mowed all 4. Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming to be some kind of saint, I mowed the friendly neighbor's grass because he was letting me use his extra parking space and had no mower, I mowed the vacant lot because the absentee landlord didn't, and it would turn into a mosquito infested jungle otherwise, and I mowed the old lady's lawn cause her husband was a nicer person than she was, and we sometimes talked outside late at night, as we were both smokers but didn't smoke in the house. Anyway, one day she gave me hell for the way I cut her grass, I had seen the property lines on a website, so I knew what was actually hers and what was "community space". I mowed her grass, then cut across the community space with the mower still running, it left a weird stripe. I did think about how it would look odd, but I also knew the schedule of the neighborhood mowers who were contracted by the HOA, so I knew the stripe would be gone in a day or two. Well, she didn't like it one bit, and let me know in no uncertain terms. That summer was the last one where I mowed her grass. Since then, she left her husband and moved to the left coast, so I now have a much more pleasant neighbor on that side, and I think I know now why he was only around like half the time.

Must be different per state as I used to work at a liquor store and ours was $250 a bottle for Blue and Black was $35 per bottle. Liquor prices are handled directly from state. Safe to say, people argued with me over prices a lot. But I used to tell them to go write a letter to the government because they set the prices, not me. Lol
@thaddeus3648
@thaddeus3648 2 жыл бұрын
Most certainly. Depending on where you are, there are a number of things that set prices. Some is state regulated, some is county regulated pricings. I forget the details, but I think its a region gets a shipment of bottles to supply all of it's stores with and it's the region that sets the prices on the bottles. Where I am, I think its county wide as I can head a few cities over and get different bottles at different prices.

Mower lady: this is a tough life lesson to learn, especially at a younger age. Most of us are, by nature, uncomfortable with confrontation. All of us will, at one time or another, deal with someone unreasonable who uses anger to manipulate us. You can either learn to stand up for yourself or be a doormat and miserable. I'm not saying this is permission to be a jerk back. I'm saying to be firm and stand your ground. Your first step is to set boundaries, like you would with a petulant 3 year old. Say something like, "you will speak to me calmly and respectfully, or this conversation is over." They will get angry back because that's all they know. You then say, "this conversation is over. Come back and speak to me when you are ready to be respectful." Then leave or shut the door. Rinse and repeat as often as necessary. If they won't respect your boundaries, it's over. This will be hard the first time, but it gets easier the next times. And you won't believe how much better you will feel about yourself.

15:22 true but not a living situation. When I was younger I went to a nice little school. Thing is, they didn’t have walls between the classes. They separated them by bookcases and shelves. So you could be reading a book in a 3rd grade classroom and hear what’s going on in the fourth and other third grade classes as well( not the fifth because they were a bit farther down but possibly if they yelled)They had walls for everything else, such as bathrooms,library, and the cafeteria. Was actually a very nice school ( with an accepting of a lot of different people) but had a bad experience since I picked up a very bad idea of how friends work that is now causing me mental discomfort now due to how anxious it made me.

Sounds like people don't know know what a Chad is. A real Chad doesn't act like entitled brats.

For the first one, I honestly thought OP was going to drive across the grass in such a way that it ruins it. My apartment had some landscaping done on it, and nobody planned on the rain, but after, the grass had wheel marks in it from their equipment.

Bruh, second story I can sorta relate to since I am a waiter in a restaurant, and tbh and not to boast, I am the most reliable waiter they place has, and can completely understand and respect the way this waiter dealt with the two chads. I would imagine being some of the other guests who are embarrassed at the Chad behaviour.

Since Living with my boyfriend in our apartment, there have been numerous times that I hear music from other apartment suites, it's never super loud for me, but I'm guessing they turn it up pretty loud because it isn't a constant thing and I've never heard a just plain speech, just music, so while it isn't sound proof, we don't usually hear much from neighbors. But with the music as loud as it was, I felt comfortable to do the same (during the day and maybe one or two times a week for maybe an hour tops). We never complained and neither did we. It felt like a silent mutual agreement. Play your music loud if you like, but don't do it at night or early morning and don't complain when you hear your neighbors doing the same.

11:00 the true Chad of this story is that older fellow. Polite, kind, but firm and fair, and ready to chew out those dimwits who were being massive arses. I hope that old fellow is doing ok, cause he sounds like an absolute legend.

As someone who lives in an apartment building i can speak from experience and say thet yes, sometimes you can hear your upstairs neighbor's footsteps, or the person next to you vaccuuming, but eventually you just get used to it suprisingly easy. There is absolutely no reason for you to ask people to quiet down when you're doing the same thing.

I mean, the college guy mowing her lawn was GIVING her the experience that demanding he mow her lawn, for free, as she demands, was acceptable and would work. Because he kept mowing her lawn. If I had been the college guy, I just wouldn't have mowed her lawn the first time she yelled at me.

What would I do if I have to deal with the Karen in the first story? I would tell them to PISS OFF, as I'm only 15 and have had enough struggles with school. Like for me, someone like that doesn't even deserve malicious compliance, just straight-up arrest.

I've lived in apartments for over two decades. In most of them, I've been much more aware of my neighbors than I'd like to be, but unless it's excessively loud for a prolonged period or it sounds like someone's being hurt, I just put up with it. Life isn't always quiet when we want it to be. My new upstairs neighbors have a dog, and have a bedtime play session with him at the same time every night. I can hear all the sounds of toys landing and dog running on uncarpeted floors. I'm never going to complain about it. It's 20 minutes a night of a dog being a dog and his owners wearing him out before bedtime.
