Tonight I cooked a simple meal of cabbage, mashed potatoes, kielbasa sausage, and jalapeno cornbread. I served some home canned tomatoes and good southern sweet tea with it. I don't have recipes for this dinner, but I hope you enjoy watching and cooking along with me. This video has not been edited so you are seeing the meal prepared from start to finish. It doesn't take long to put a good meal on the table for your family.

I just love watching you cook and chatting. Most of my family has passed away and I miss all the conversations we’d have while cooking. I miss that so much. Honey! I didn't know that you've been so sick! But so glad that you're finally getting your strength back ❤ I prayed for your sister-in-law for God's strength and comfort. I try to always keep evaporated milk in my cupboard in case we run out of milk, and to add to cream soups, etc. Another great meal for you and Pop Jones!

i see comments on a lot of cooking shows about the cooks not washing their hands, yes they are edited out as it would make the video longer and boring to watch you all wash your hands all the time. Love your videos. I love all the sausages, soup, fried potatoes, onions and sausage.

I so enjoy being in your kitchen Karen. My daughter and I had the flu Thanksgiving....it took awhile to get back to feeling normal. Glad you are on the mend. I'm with you on potatoes....so good. Those of us that follow you know you are a clean cook. Sending prayers for your brother and your sister in law. Our weather here in NC is up and down too. Good simple meals are the best I think....sooooo good...wish I was there for a plate...lol. I have the cookbook and am really enjoying it. Don't let negative comments bother you. Silly question: When washing the cabbage do you wash the outside only or cut it up like lettuce and wash it when it is all apart. Is the cabbage on a low boil? Also, on the cornbread I didn’t catch where you added the Jalapeño but I might have missed it. Would it be just little chopped up pieces of Jalapeño? Looking forward to making this one over the weekend. I also really enjoyed the unedited on this one. I always find your videos so relaxing to watch from beginning to end. This is a meal I could eat 2-3 days a week. I love the combination. Do you and Pop not eat leftovers? I would cook every bit of that cabbage with probably 2 onions and I’d add two lbs of smoked sausage in it and maybe even some bacon grease with plenty of salt. Do you not have burner covers to cover the burners you’re not using? I keep all of mine covered that I’m not using. I’m glad you’re feeling much better after that flu. Much love 💗 You ask what sausage we prefer. I only fix smoked sausage. Don’t like polish sausage at all. I do like Johnsonville smoked sausage links with Jalapeños. I prefer them over a hotdog. This is one delicious meal you fixed. I’m hungry . Just made out my grocery list and cabbage is on it.. love sour cream in my potatoes. My momma used Milnot evaporated milk in her potatoes. Actually, we don't eat a lot of leftovers. But there are some things we do. I try not to over cook so as not to waste. I don't have burner covers. The way my gas stove is made, I can't use them. ❤️

@@KarenJonesFoodFamily I’ve not learned to cook for just two people. Some things I can fix just the right amount so there aren’t leftovers but stuff like veggie soup, pot of beans, and chili. I can’t just make a small amount. I have a friend that works at SaveALot. She’s struggling financially. I always give her a big bowl of whatever I fix. She’s loving it. She appreciates my left overs. I would love to have a gas stove. I almost bought one when we remodeled the kitchen. I wanted the gas too with electric oven. Momma just always laid a piece of foil over the burners she wasn’t using especially when she fried stuff like chicken and salmon patties. She’d just wipe the foil off and reuse it. We were taught not to waste anything and that’s more important these days. I got everything at the store this morning to fix my cabbage and sausage. Will be making your potatoes and cornbread too. Hi Karen, I don't know how you cook your potatoes (or anything else) on the stove, I can't seem to cook anything like that with or without a lid on. It boils over all over my stove. What's the secret?

Medium heat, don't close the lid on the pot. The starch in the potatoes makes it houl over. I'll cover to start them, then when they start to boil, I uncover or at least prop the lid to the side. Good luck. ❤️

@@Lisasandiego1, just last month while watching another KZfaq channel that I follow, I made an assumption that this mother of 7 was being very unkind to one of her adopted children, and I left a comment questioning her. I later learned the entire story, and apologized. We all have done things like this. It's just one of life's lessons. I'm sure you had good intentions. ❤
