That award was robbed from Ronnie who had 15 goals (5 more than Salah) in 10 matches in the Champions League until the semifinal where they faced Bayern then Liverpool in the finals. Papa Perez didn't want to see him get the award at a different club so he and his boys gave the votes (just like the votes Messi benefitted from people with ties to Barca) to Lukita. The man had 44 goals in 44 matches, with Salah accomplishing the same in 52 games.

R9 lives on in parts of Benzema's and Mbappe's games. But Zizou was a huge influence on Benzema as well and you can see that in his control, gliding across the pitch and his football IQ. Benzema is a blend of the two. I so much wanted him to be the devastatingly brutal player he was at Lyon but he served the Ronaldo era - he provided many assists and was the reason they won so many titles. It's high time for him. No one deserves it more.
