2018 was a great year for modric. He won the champions league and he was voted as the best player of tournament. He reached world cup final and he was voted as the best player of the tournament. I have never seen a player to be named best player of the the two biggest tournaments in the same year. Not even the great messi achieved this. He deserved 2018 baloon dor that year without doubt.

im from Argentina,im a huge fan of Luka its ,with all the respect( without Messi haha) the best player that i´ve ever seen in my hole life .In the world cup in 2022, my country won over Croatia .And i remember that Luka was replaced at ....idk between 65/70 min .And all of Argentinian people(including myself OF COURSE) stand up and applaud this LEGEND,with tears stream down my face.Just amazing....thank you Luka for the legacy you have left to football lovers

Never have i seen player who have consistency like luka modric. I have been following football for 12 years not ronaldo and messi that player i like but luka modric❤

Modric is my favourite player of all time, and I really think he is so underrated. Nowadays people only cares about numbers, and that is sad, because with this limited line of sight you can't fully enjoy the impact this man has on the midfield. He is absolutely different than any other player I've ever seen, and is always such a pleasure to watch for me.

He makes the difference in the team. Real Madrid are still trying to figure out how to play without him, and whenever they can't, which is any major game, they put Modrić at least 25 minutes to either solve the game or settle it. For me he is the best player to ever set foot on the pitch. I know many would disagree, but for me he is the most complete in all fields, and most consinstent in terms of mistakes; he does just a few unlike Messi, Ronaldo etc... who make one genius thing and then 10 sloppy.

If we're being realistic that is celarly at least top 5 best world cup preformances of all time. Luka was in his prime then even tough he was 33 but he played with burning heart and iron will every single game like no other player ever and i know this as a croatian. He was undoubtedly the driving force and most crucial player in every match. I've never seen a player so talented that also has great leadership skills and plays with so much heart. Its concerning how some people still tought he didnt deserve the ballon dor...

I do not have words to describe modric in the 2018 world cup . The man was everywhere. He defended, created chances, dribbled , crossed , passed, held possession ,scored and assisted (to a lesser extent) . It truly felt like watching Xavi , Iniesta and Busquests as a single player. Genuinely unplayable. It's shameful and disrespectful to even attempt to say that Rakitić was better than him .

Fantastic player. I do think he was a brilliant player in a great team who got less recognition than he deserves and then boom, World Cup final and suddenly hype takes off. Modric got 5 more votes that Messi and CR7 combined in the Balon d'Or this year...let that sink in. Wouldn't put this year/season top 5 in his career, and I watched a lot of his matches. But great to see him covered on this channel and don't get me wrong, best midfielder of the last 10 years. Incredible what a career he's had since turning 30.

Actually, here in Brazil everyone was talking about his performance throughout the World Cup. Got to finals with 100% dribbling success, the second player that ran the most in the tournament. And honestly, the invisible factor. Rewatch that Cup. Croatia backline couldn't pass the ball even if their life depended on it. This mas almost by himself made this team actually work. Just watch it again and tell me I'm wrong.

@@brenofrate1309 Just to compare in 2016 Balon d'Or he got one vote, in 2018 753. Just pointing out how ridicuolous and World Cup hype driven these award are, not really trying to criticize the player. Do think Rakitic and Perisic deserves some credit too for the WC. Modric was probably the best player of the group stage, hard to compare when some players only played two matches, teams like Belgium played weak teams and so on. But found him less influential in the knockout stage. But I'm thinking season+national team and then I thought he was better in 13-14, 14-15, 15-16, 16-17, 20-21 and 21-22.
