Kenya Moore is one of the most well-known reality TV stars in the world. But what you may not know about her is that she started off her career as Ms. USA! After winning the title, she went on to star in some of the most popular reality TV shows ever made. However, her reputation took a hit when she was labelled "the shadiest beloved villain" on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. As a black pageant fan, it boils my blood to hear some people say that Kenya hasn't really done anything in her life. Having a USA sash on an international stage of Miss Universe as a dark skinned black American woman in the early 90s was legendary for pageantry and beauty brands worldwide. Her TV and movie experience is noteworthy as her resume is incomparable and extensive compared to her haters. My prayers are for Kenya and her daughter to continue to flourish and Marc please sign the damn papers SMH.

Kenya was an inspiration to dark-skinned Black girls who continue to be scorned, even in Black culture. She's beautiful and dispelled the notion that only light-skinned girls are to be desired and held up as the ultimate romantic interest. Kenya is one of my favorite housewives. Just a beautiful lady inside and out. Its heartbreaking how her mother abandoned her. But I'm glad her father was there for her, and her grandmothers and aunt stepped in to be mother figures to her. I believe her aunt was the one who named her because "she was dark and beautiful". She always reminded me of a young Natalie Cole - she's become a balanced villain on RHOA in recent seasons. Honestly, the show kept her name out there and allowed her to pursue new business. I feel like without it, she would've drifted into the background as a black history trivia fact - 2000s, and 2010s were a hard time for black female musicians and actresses - I think she's evolved on TV a lot since motherhood and her appeal is shifting for sure. It definitely helps that she hasn't aged a bit - there will be lots to see from Kenya over the next decade for sure.

Great video. Kenya is physically flawless and emotionally resilient to be such a high achiever when she could easily have given up on life. I wanted so badly for her to have a happy marriage to heal her childhood wounds but I saw her on Tamron Hall's show saying her ex isn't co-parenting properly and doesn't see their daughter. That's terrible for any mother but for a woman whose mother rejected her its devastating. It makes me think he's a bad person. I'm sure that Kenya's mother is. I don't know how she was even invited to family events where she would ignore her own child. I'd have thrown her out and cut her off. Anyone who can do that to a child especially their child is evil.

Kenya is sooo beautiful! Despite being on RHOA, her intelligence shined through even on the show! She accomplished so much & her mother choosing to not be there for her… that’s on the mother. Jamie Foxx went through something similar, with his parents, just like Kenya. He said how his parents wanted nothing to do with him & his grandparents raised him. Parents like that gotta remember that the babies grow up & they remember the mistreatment. Also, the parents of Kenya & Jamie seeing & hearing how successful they became is a reminder of what they DID NOT DO or contribute to. Very sad but reality.

I only watched real housewives of Atlanta for a couple of seasons after she arrived. And one just gets the sense that they're had to be something really painful living inside her that she had not worked through. They portrayed her always as a bully who thought she was above everyone else. There's a lot of manipulating behind the scenes of these reality shows that a lot of us are unaware of.

And the mere fact that Kenya is an awesome mother to Brooklyn says a lot about her. I actually respect Kenya (even when she's being shady and funny on RHOA🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣) for trying to make her marriage to Mark and being a dedicated and wonderful mother.

I agree with you on the fact that being on reality tv might have tarnished her image a little. I personally didn't know much about her until watching your video. I know not everyone wants to be an inspiration/role model but her story, is a story of resiliance and strength. Her upbringing is one that is too common in underpriviledged communities. It is a story that would resonate with so many people. I hope if she does reality tv again it focuses on her philanthropy and all the good she does in the world. Happy Birthday to this beautiful woman!

A lot of mothers do if they regret the timing or the man that got them pregnant … they act like the victim like the baby just happened to them , they have no accountability and take all their shame and resentment out on the baby .. it’s super sad and disgusting behavior but I can understand why women get like that after becoming pregnant especially with an abusive toxic man …some women don’t have the emotional intelligence to ever recover or heal and move on from that having a baby is dealing in the soul realm some women lose their soul dealing with abusive narcissistic men .. they will just treat their baby like their biggest mistake in life

My understanding from a past Kenya interview, is that Kenya's mother's family was prominent in Detroit back then and ran a business, and Kenya's mother's sibling, had become pregnant and had a baby out of wedlock. Then another daughter became pregnant, who was Kenya's mother, Patricia. Patricia's father, Kenya's maternal grandfather, forbid any more out of wedlock children in his home. So, Kenya's paternal grandmother asked them to give Kenya to her and she raised Kenya. In the early 1970's unwed teenage pregnancies were considered an embarrassment to the family.

Cause they mad at the father. Because they acted on impulse .yt society sees BLK women's only value as breeders even though they not got the money or emotionally ready . She may have been expected to have a man and be seeking normality but the child inside runs away from responsibility .The child was not a boy and in the black community girls are only useful as babysitters , groomers and cleaners

I LOVE Kenya! I didn't know her entire story and am so happy you brought it to light. It makes me love her even *Moore*! In my opinion, Kenya is cast as the villain in RHOA because she is so beautiful and successful. I was angry when her aunt yelled at her for going to see her mom!?! Why does that family allow her mom to abuse her because she doesn't want to deal with reality? It's cruel and unreal she is allowed to treat her daughter that way. Kenya is absolutely above anyone on that show and I hate hearing those females speak badly to and about her.

Love Kenya...I had the pleasure of meeting her aunt as I was a family members nurse, and she's as graceful and sweet as Kenya states. Funny enough Kenya and I have never met and we attended the same high school and college and we are both dark skinned girls with very long hair. I feel Kenya is blessed not to have her mom in her life I can only imagine her life if her mom stayed in her life and despised being her mother so she has to look at it from this standpoint. I just love her
