It's a great adaptation, but here's what it misses compared to the original: - "much to do and little to eat" sounds like "we just have to do live like this" while in the polish version it sounds more like "our officers order and expect us to act like that", basically the entire song is bragging about officers and food without bragging about war or the enemy or blaming the army or the country. Life sucks, but morale's still high. Same for the waking up ("they won't let us sleep") part where it's even more clearly visible that it's bragging about the commanders, not only their orders - the soldier refers to his rifle as a comrade and his canteen as a trustee, this indicates how much time that guy spent in the field, here they're displayed as ordinary objects - and finally, in polish culture, sweedish manner of training is perceived as rather tough, german manner of living basically means being very strict about everything and listening to orders and polish manner of wartime eating was clearly depicted in the song, it's not about polish food in general. Put another words, the quality of food is nowhere near the quality of their work and that's the point of this part. I hope this help those who don't speak Polish better understand the song. Also, great job Karl for popularising the song that in my opinion really deserves it

I think it's too overly fascist to be included. Karl toys with right-wing music from time to time (Freikorps Voran, La Marcha Peronista, El Abanderado de la Tradicion, Zrodyłyś my wełykoji hodyny, Haylim Almonim), but covering a flat-out fascist song would be too much, especially for the YT censorship.

I'm scratching my head. How is this supposed to keep the morale up? How is this supposed to make the soldiers feel like fighting? I feel demoralised, and I'm not even living in a war zone. Just feels like a song complaining about their life and army rations and how unfair life is to them and how they missed out on the good times, have to suffer the bad times, and won't live to see the good times again. If I sang this, I wouldn't even feel like fighting.

Probably you have never been in army. In Poland soldiers during war/even peace time they have their own ration of food delivered by MON(ministry of national defence) - but yeah, its not great food, but the song is about : yes, its bad, hard times but we will follow up because of we are fighting for Poland and we are polish soldiers. Also its sung by low-rank soldier and it shows officers point of view.
