More and more fixed-price stores are starting to open in India thankfully. But rickshaw drivers and street sellers will generally use the bargaining system to extract the best price from tourists. In some cities, like Mumbai, the rickshaw drivers will use the meter, but they take tourists the long way to increase the fare.

Whenever Manisha and I are shopping, we can't let the shopkeeper see me. Because as soon as they see an Indian with a foreigner they assume she's an NRI or foreigner too! The price skyrockets for basic things she's trying to buy. It's so annoying for her 😂 People actually ask her, "Where are you from?" and are surprised when they hear her speak Hindi 😂

There are advantages and disadvantages to being a foreigner in India. The same applies for local Indians too. It's a good topic for a video with Manisha actually. She's considered an Indian when she's alone, and seen as a foreigner when she's with me.

Why are they charging more ? Because they CAN and SHOULD. These people make a way below minimum wage (vs 1st world Nations). The products and services they sell are dramatically cheaper than what "we" are used to paying in our home countries, even at inflated prices. If you can afford to travel there as a tourist or even student or employee, you can afford to pay the inflated tourist prices.

You’ve become a pro in bargaining 😂. My mom does this with vendors , she starts walking away real fast and then the vendor starts running too and screams out the price that my mom had offered 😂😉. It’s a pretty good trick you know - walking away from them 😂😁

Since you are married to an Indian lady , you can apply for OCI card for yourself. You can show it a Taj mahal and other tourist places where you will be charged same as an Indian citizen. You will have the same rights as an Indian except the right to vote.

This because international tourism is not their main source of income and second they are very rich country and their prices are already very expensive . For example here in India a ltr of water bottle costs ₹ 20 but in America it cost 1 or 2 dollar .

The videos about the illegal market and the people bothering you next to a river more than a little scares me. Major attraction like Bukit Bendera Hill Train has that different rate as well but those are regulated by our government. Only several places have different rate like that. But there's one catch, if u go to Kelantan, the east coast state of Malaysia, even like me, a citizen of Malaysia, can get screwed up by small stalls and shops there. Only if I am able to speak local dilect till they are unable to identify me as an outsider then they give u good prices like locals. Good state but screwed up on the inside that can't be seen unless ur going there

In the US, we have significantly different prices for local and for out of state college tuition. On some grounds, it make sense because locals pay taxes (property taxes, etc) which help fund these things whereas foreigners do not.

It’s the same for a lot of Indian stores in Chicago. I have what I refer to as my North Family ( I’m from NC, but reside in Chicago for now) who are from India. We go shopping together often . I get charged a lot more than they do. I call it the “white price”.
