I did 18 months at this facility as a teen. I was a troubled teen, but I didn’t deserve the abuse I endured at PCS. I was cut off from communicating with the world, and allowed one supervised phone call a week. If I said a single thing about any of my “punishments” I was punished even worse. When I left, I was given a box with literally hundreds of pieces of mail that family and friends had sent me, none of which I ever got and every single piece of mail was already opened.. Half of the mail was MY letters that somehow never made it out. My entire family thought I was ignoring them when in reality it was this sick fuck of a therapist doing and saying whatever he had to in order to keep me as long as possible. I spent many years after getting out very depressed and full of hatred. Although I’ve chosen to forgive everyone involved and move on, I still to this day have nightmares of similar situations happening again, and still find myself “triggered” into a moment of panic by subtle things or phrases that are totally normal to other people. I remember being told a number of times, “You think this is a tough life?, this is nothing compared to what it’s like in jail as an adult.” Well, now as an adult who’s been in and out of county jail a number of times, I can confidently say that even though jail is different, it’s a summer camp compared to my time in PCS. I spent time in one or two other facilities before I was 18, and almost all the kids had heard rumors of Provo, but most had never actually been there. I was immediately respected when kids heard I was in Provo. I was asked about it every day. At one point I was even asked to stand in front of them all and talk a little about my experience there and then answer questions the kids had. It was an attempt to kind of scare them straight, and no joke a few of the rowdy kids actually made some huge changes after hearing my story. Wouldn’t wish that experience on ANY child.

Got sent in 2007/2008 because my therapist got kickbacks off the commission. Therapist literally convinced parents to send me. I was about 12/13, halfway through 8th grade. Wasn’t there long at all, since it wasn’t really covered by insurance. Every adult I told about how bad the place was just brushed it off so never really spoke about it once I got out. Power to those that made it out stay strong AND OVERCOME THAT LIFE SHIT

I never got locked up like that. My heart and prayer go out any and all affected! I've heard the stories, and they're nightmare fuel. Everybody who walked out of that place is a survivor! I am able to speak on the fact that even witnessing domestic violence as a child has dire future consequences. I had no clue that my 1st marriage was abusive until someone else pointed it out to me. When it's all that you know, the line of what you tolerate is low. Nowadays, I'm in my 2nd marriage, and I have never been more loved. ❤ I adore the man, but I still occasionally struggle with the lack of argument and stress. It was all that I knew for most of my life. And now, to live in peace feels I'm out of place. 😂

100%... Our Ego's just is simply to survive. You continue to experience similar if not the same trauma bc your ego knows it's previously survived xyz before and anything new is scary. Trauma is energetically stored in the body, so even if you've healed your mind one continues to still have struggles attached to past trauma.

*Criminalize coercive control and give every adult a guaranteed basic income so people can get out and stay out of abusive environments. as a society, we need to stop talking bout narcissism and talk about narcissistic abuse. there is no such thing as bpd, there are abusers and their victims.*
