As their film, "Titanic," celebrates its 25th anniversary, Access Hollywood is looking back at the pairs 1997 interviews for the movie. "She was such a great partner and such a terrific person," Leo said of Kate. "She is going to be one of the greats. She already is." "He is absolutely gorgeous," Kate gushed about Leo back then, jokingly adding that their friendship made her female friends jealous.

Gisele was only 6 years younger than Leo but his next girlfriend, Bar Refaeli was 11 years younger. After Leo's split with Bar the age gap continued to get bigger and bigger to what it is now, women literally half his age and younger. Leo's current model girlfriend is a whopping *30 years* younger than he is, two years younger than he was when he did Titanic. 😳

That's definitely the case now but Titanic was shot in the summer of 1996 when Kate was only 20 years old and Leo was 21. Filming wrapped in March '97 when Kate was 21 and Leo was 22. Personally lol 😂 and I know nothing of their private business, but I always thought Leo fell for Kate at some point knowingly or unknowingly. Leo’s thing with young girls has never made sense to me he seems mature (maybe just lost the love of his life) but you never know who someone is behind closed doors 🚪

@@goattttttt954 that’s just my opinion. Me and my best friend went “there” and ruined everything. We lost the relationship and the friendship. We are both married to other people now and have kids. I don’t regret losing the relationship as it just wasn’t good. But there isn’t a day that goes by and i don’t miss him as a best friend

Just curious though, does your friend feel the same way too? It could be that he valued a romantic relationship more than a friendship with you.

@@pianogirl9676 I believe this is why so many people share the popular belief “men and women can’t be friends”. It feels almost inevitable that at least one side of that friendship will be curious in exploring what more that friendship could be (ie romantic relationship) and it either works out perfectly or ends as you said the relationship and the friendship. Not that this applies to friends who are more on the acquaintance level, but friends that end up considering each other best friends from the other gender often end in failure I believe. It’s unfortunate but happens. Hope you’re good though

No I know how that feels. I've been friends with someone for around ten years now and I've had a lot of crushes but I've never liked him that way. Maybe it's because we grew up with each other basically we were friends since childhood really. I never thought about going there even now

Notice how he “dates” a new young model every year it’s like he’s trying to hide the fact he’s gay. It would probably be hard to be in a committed long term relationship with a woman without her finding out he’s just not into women…

I think she is more focused on her acting than her looks, so it makes sense that she looked better in her youth. However she is an absolutely gorgeous woman and always will be. I don’t think it’s a priority for her, I think her acting career is.

I genuinely think she’s the reason he has never settled down with anyone. There must be some kind of unrequited love on his part for her. Leo is a guy that could walk into any bar/club/party/social situation and leave with the best woman there, marry her & have a ton of kids. I just watched Titanic for the first time through and through last week and it's still affecting me on some kind of emotional level. I know that it's not real in the sense of these two characters but my suspension of disbelief really did a number on me and what happened between these two characters deeply affected me. This is a nice reminder that This really was fiction and that they are both alive and well and were never really in love

You articulated perfectly why the movie became such a sensation. It wasn’t just the then-exdeptional simulation of the Titanic going down, it was the love story --those two characters, the script and how they performed. It’s deeply affecting! We need more movies that move us in inspiring ways, IMHO… especially love stories: where there are challenges but where we get to see what a unique combination of personalities and circumstances plus commitment to each other can look like.
