Kate Martin Used Three Words To Describe Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso
On Thursday, June 27, the Chicago Sky will play the reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces for the first time in the 2024 season.
This game will feature many different big names facing off against each other, including Aces stars A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. But it's the rookies that will bring in a majority of the attention to the game. Sky rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso and Aces rookie Kate Martin come to mind.
All three of the aforementioned rookies have seen significant roles since entering the WNBA in April. And both Reese and Cardoso met Martin and Caitlin Clark in the previous two NCAAW National Championships. In 2023, Reese and LSU defeated Iowa, and in 2024, Cardoso and South Carolina beat the Hawkeyes. On Monday, a few days before the Sky-Aces battle, Martin discussed the impact Reese and Cardoso have and used three words to describe them: "Big. Strong. Athletic." "I'm really happy for them for how they've been playing. They're big, they're strong, they're athletic post players, and they go hard every play," Martin said, "They rebound like crazy. They kind of hang their hats on that... They're really good. I think everybody knows that, and everybody can see that." (via Fox5 Las Vegas reporter Paloma Villicana)

We want to add another word to the 3 already mentioned and that is intelligence. All those three mean nothing if there is no intelligence to steer them towards the intended goal. In general people in the US like to describe people who look like Angel and Kamilla as just brute strength, brute force and bullying your way to victory. But that's not how the management of strength and power works. The US has the most potent and powerful weapons in the world but if there was no intelligence behind them to use them effectively, the US would not have been successful in wars and dominate this part of life. Not that we are applauding that, it's just a metaphor to bring the point across.

Still no impressive bigs in the league. Better bigs on any boys high-school team in the nation. No real improvement at this positions in years as it applies to the WNBA.
