Sublime. And how wonderful that Kate's two precious children have followed in her musical footsteps.

Years ago my older brother played the record of Kate and Anna singing this song. I loved it, and still do. Merci!

This song "Talk to Me of Mendocino" wrote by the then young sisters Kate and Anna mcGarrigle was first released in 1976, some 46 years ago. In 1976 long before the laptop computers, or smartphones, or the internet, it would have been spirited and a spiritual adventure to head west to California from New York state, and that's what I feel when I listen to this song. It's sad really reminiscing on the long ago and far away. A beautiful song.

I’ve loved the Magarrigles since the 70’s. I first heard them when I was living in Dublin and was pretty homesick.

The thing is - The Wainwrights and McGarrigles .are a step higher. Sadly they will be appreciated by the minority. However, let's continue to go to their concerts. Rufus and Loudon tour constantly and Martha is making a name for herself all over the world. Sorry I just missed you in Glasgow Loudon, but I'll see you in Leicester Rufus. Wow, can't wait to see you. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

I have the original self-titled album and I believe their second ,a Dancer with Bruised Knees --great Duo .I saw Louden Wainwright when he sang at The Gaslight in Greenwich Village in the late 60s. I now include his popular song Yhe Swimming song when I do Open Mic sets.

I really am going to have to disagree with you on that. Listen to ANYTHING from the "Tell My Sister" release by the McGarrigle sisters. That woman was a goddess and had such a wonderful voice. I'm just blown away.

The McGarrigle sisters were pretty successful, and were pretty prominent songwriters. Same with Loudon, I mean he wasn't Bob Dylan or Lenard Cohen or anything but they weren't nobodies.

Oh dear, please look at other mails. I don't agree with you. think the Wainwrights and McGarrigles are a great mixture and I hope it all continues for as long as poss. including perhaps if they want to - Arcangelo and little Viva. Look forward to seeing some other fans on 3rd July in Leicester.

Aaaagh. Sorry, but Rufus and Martha are way off pitch. Admittedly, it's pretty hard to come close to Kate and Anna's studio vocals. As one who has listened to the original for 48 years, this was horrible.
