Here's Linda Eder in a hilariously stunning performance of 'Bring on the Men' (a song which was eventually replaced in the Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde). 5:12 - 5:30 is just... WOW!!! I envy Linda's incomparable multi-octave vocal range.

Excuse me, but you needed to know who her SO was before you found this performance “made sense”?? I’m female, genetically and psychologically. I survived med school as a physically disabled person. I’ve worked w/ and lived thru a lot of misogyny. I never thot I’d hear such a comment from someone who’s first name is so feminine. Eder went on to sing “Madam of le Monche.” First diva to do so. Do you also require her husband’s reputation before you respect that?

I know right! My girlfriend says it makes more sense because they don't want Lucy to seem like she wants to be a whore, she just has to do it as a job. Bring on the Men's message is a bit more....promiscuous....than Good N' Evil
@jessicazeller8060
@jessicazeller8060 9 жыл бұрын
I always thought Good 'N Evil gave Jekyll a reason to approach Lucy, as he tells her that her song gave him the answer to his experiment. Whereas it wouldn't make sense for him to tell her that after she sang this song. I prefer Bring on the Men, especially since it reveals more about Lucy's character, but Good 'N Evil fits better in context.

I was so lucky to see Jekyll & Hyde back in 1990 starting Chuck Wagner, Rebecca Spencer, and Linda Eder before it became the Broadway hit. This song in particular left me floored as Linda was all over the stage including jumping up on the table at one point and dancing all the while belting perfectly. I went on to see this musical another 6 or 7 times, but nothing ever matched that stellar cast for me. Made me sad when they removed this song from the show.

My parents saw it back in 1990 but sadly I was only 10 years old and they thought I would be a typical bored kid. My mom told me about “Lucy’s” character and Linda Eder’s voice so She played it for me, and I think my jaw fell to the ground and I forgot to pick it up. I was absolutely in awe! From that day on, I was obsessed with her. I wanted to see every show, own every album, and most of all wanted to meet her. When I finally did, I felt like I was in a movie/tv show where the character meets somebody they idealize and cannot get a full sentence out. I was so star struck. She was so beautiful and kind. It was a moment, I wish I could redo, but am so glad I had it.

There was a time I don't know when I didn't have much time for men But this is now and that was then, I'm learning A girl alone, all on her own Must try to have a heart of stone So I try not to make it known my yearning I try to show I have no need I really do, I don't succeed So let's bring.on the men And let the fun begin A little touch of sin Why wait another minute Step this way its time for us to play They say we may not pass this way again So lets waste no more time Bring on the men I always knew, I always said A silk and lace in black and red Will drive a man right off his head, its easy So many men, so little time I want them all, is that a crime (NO!) I dont know why they say that I'm too easy They make me laugh, they make me cry They make me sick, so god knows why We say bring on the men And let the fun begin A little touch of sin Why wait another minute Step this way its time for us to play They say we may not pass this way again So lets waste no more time Bring on the men They break your heart They steal your soul Take you apart And yet they somehow make you whole So whats their game I suppose a rose by any other name The perfume and the pricks the same I like to have a man for breakfast each day I'm very social and I like it that way By late mid-morning I need something to munch So I ask over 2 men for lunch And men are mad about my afternoon "tease". They're quite informal I just do it to please Those tripple sandwiches are my favorite ones I'm also very partial to buns My healthy appetite gets strongest at night My at home dinners are my men friends delight When I invite the fellas over to dine They all come early, in bed by nine! So lets bring on the men And let the fun begin A little touch of sin Why wait another minute Step this way it's time for us to play They say we may not pass this way again So lets waste no more time Bring on the men! (big men, small men, Short men, tall men I guess that means almost all men, I'm a player, 'long as they are men men men!)
