I just made my 1st cane. I should have been watching this video at the same time, but I thought I could. I took notes last night and looked at them... well, I have a nine petal thingy with a hole in the middle. The next step is to “fill”the center and the spaces between the petals. Right now, before filling in it is about 1/4 inch thick. A nightmare and a waste of clay. Good for a laugh tho’.

Between you and Susan Bailey (TurtleSoupBeads), I am realizing I need flowers in my life! Until now, I have been all about geometric shapes. This cane is absolutely beautiful. I love how the center is darker in some areas and thinner, lighter in other areas. It looks much more realistic this way. Thank you for sharing your time and ideas with us!

I'm new to your tutorials and I've got to say, I appreciate your approach to clay. I think as a beginner, it's hard to see the end picture through the perceived "flaws" as we're building our canes. Thank you!

Hi Katie, I just made this with the light in the centre and the dark on the outside. Yours looks much more interesting. Next time I will put dark in the middle. 😀

Such a pretty flower, and great instructions, too. Thanks, Katie...you're a wonderful instructor! And I loved how joyful you were at how gorgeous your flower came out! I hope it's ok to suggest, but I was thinking about your big leaf cane...I recommend Susan at TurtleSoupBeads' tutorial on pod beads. Your leaf cane would be amazing on pod beads!!
