At its core, the story of The Hunger Games is about the power of one person to change the world.
Set in the future remnants of the USA in a new nation called Panem, one male and one female "tribute" between the ages of 11 and 18 from each of Panem's twelve districts is forced to participate in an annual competition called the Hunger Games, which is broadcast live throughout the country for the entertainment of the Capitol's wealthy residents.
Now, bestselling author Suzanne Collins and the world of The Hunger Games return in her latest addition to the series: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

This opening gets me every time. Katniss basically wasn’t even hearing anything Plutarch & Coin were saying. She didn’t care about the revolution. All she cared about was Peeta & that she thought he deserved to be the one to live & not her

Mockingjay definitely deserved two movies. The issue was they slowed part 1 to a crawl and rushed part 2. Doing this forced a bunch of changes and limited screen time for the great supporting cast of the novel.

Jennifer Lawrence deserved an Oscar for her turn as Katniss & i’m so serious. she was acting her ASS off the entire series, & especially in Mockingjay pt. 1 & 2. i get goosebumps watching her perform, & forget she’s anyone but Katniss herself.

She was fantastic. A lot of people (including me) think her Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook was partly for the first HG movie. That's when people found out how great she was, and it came out the same year. Certain genres of movies don't get nominations no matter how great they are, however she was just as impressive as Katniss - if not more - as in the "status" movie she actually won for.

@@monmothma3358She was amazing in both. She disappeared in the characters. Jennifer is so effortlessly vivacious, goofy and spontaneous in real life but as Katniss you can actually sense her terror, grief, sadness and desperation. How an actress who lived a relatively pampered and happy life can embody this character so well is nothing short of miraculous. She really deserves all the accolades.

Mockingjay 1 is the weakest of the HG movies, but I forgot how good the opening was. No punches are pulled, and Jennifer does a brilliant job portraying someone who is traumatized and mentally unstable. Her one reason to go on after being reaped a second time, had been to save Peeta. No wonder she's broken.

I don’t remember if there’s a scene like that in the book, but the assumption is she left her recovery room after a nightmare and started wandering the hallways of district 13, maybe even got back into empty maintenance “off-limits” hallways to have some privacy while she settled down from her nightmare. Then some of the nurses tracked her down and requested she return to her room, that they had some medicine that could help calm her anxiety and make her sleep soundly with no nightmares. The people of 13 just wanted her safely back in her recovery bed and not off wandering in places she didn’t need to be, and they wanted to keep track of her too. Katniss then resisted when they tried bringing her back to her room, but calmed down and complied. And that’s why we see her back in her recovery room, not locked up or anything so she can freely go to confront Finnick

She did escape. She was the one who short circuited the dome, destroying it, sure, that was the plan all along, but she didn't know about and, when Beetee failed and got electrocuted, she put two and two together at the last moment and successfully completed the task and for that she deserves some credit. The plan was to save her but she managed to save herself in one of the most epic scenes in the history of movies.

What's Katniss' obsession with Peeta. I thought she had to stay alive for her sister, who needed her, now it's all about Peeta, Peeta, Peeta, she was even ready to die for him with no care for her sister, who would have been left alone with a mother who couldn't protect her.
@chanbang378
@chanbang378 3 ай бұрын
If you want to know it’s best to read the books if you haven’t, the movies did an awful job of showcasing Peeta. Peeta has saved Katniss life so many times, put her over himself and he’s genuinely a good person. The movies don’t show this but if it wasn’t for him Katniss would be dead multiple times over in the first games. He didn’t do that for payback but because he knows that Katniss life has more value over his with his abusive household that doesn’t need him. It’s not that Katniss doesn’t care for her sister, of course she does but Katniss being alive now with her being threatened by Snow puts her family in danger. Snow has threatened them and Katniss knows she’s trouble and she’s doesn’t want to be a leader. She thinks Prim would be better off and in less danger without her, Prim still would have Gale to keep her fed but would be less likely of being tortured or killed by Snow. Peeta, has more chance of living than she does because he isn’t seen as a big enough threat in comparison and Katniss knows if he did survive he’d not leave Prim alone anyway. Katniss says here ‘then you should’ve saved Peeta’ because the movies don’t show it, but Peeta is very charismatic and witty and he’s amazing at speaking to a crowd and moving them with his words. That’s one of his biggest strengths, in catching fire before the quarter quell announcement, Katniss even thinks Peeta would be the best fit of leading a rebellion in 12 because he can move people in ways that her and Gale can’t. So when coin says here ‘we need a compelling voice to persuade them’ she says ‘then you should’ve saved Peeta’ because she means that’s Peeta would be better as the compelling voice than she is because she’s bad at those sort of things

@@Stress_._Free a lot of things tbh, but Peeta is actually an amputee, he loses a leg after the first games his injuries are that bad. So he has one leg and a prosthetic after that. Which is why he’s struggling in the arena in catching fire and needs help running from the fog, because he’s not even had that prosthetic for a full year and is back in an arena having to run for his life through vines
