This was way different from the book. I haven't read it in years. But if I remember correctly, in the book, Peeta simply grabbed Katniss's throat for like 10 seconds before being knocked out. He didn't throw her around the room or smash her through that window. I feel like this was a honestly pretty clever change

They took his love and polluted it with poisonous chemicals to transform it into malignant hate. It will never be okay or even bearable to see such evil... nor should it ever be so What disturbs me the most, is how Peeta is almost unrecognizable, and seems inhuman. His features seem alien or at least animalistic... as can be expected after experiencing the culmination of thousands of years of progress in creating the most perfect (in an evil sense) torture techniques.

Peeta’s awake already, sitting on the side of the bed, looking bewildered as a trio of doctors reassure him, flash lights in his eyes, check his pulse. I’m disappointed that mine was not the first face he saw when he woke, but he sees it now. His features register disbelief and something more intense that I can’t quite place. Desire? Desperation? Surely both, for he sweeps the doctors aside, leaps to his feet, and moves toward me. I run to meet him, my arms extended to embrace him. His hands are reaching for me, too, to caress my face, I think. My lips are just forming his name when his fingers lock around my throat.

“Fear is the most difficult thing to overcome.” Exactly why Coin could not stop fearing that the capital would return. Exactly why Katniss had to face her worst fears and realize the path to a new system was going to be bloody regardless of how peaceful she wished it to be. Knowing that those fears will never truly leave, even after starting a new life after it all.

When the screen cuts to black after Boggs knocks out Peeta, that was originally going to be the end with Part 2 beginning when Katniss wakes up. Glad they decided not to.

When you get strangled your head gets a lot of preassure since blood is still trying to pass through, but can't do it properly (veins get blocked since they are more superficial, while arteries keep blood going up since they are deeper). This allows blood to keep going to your head, but not to return down. Capillaries are smaller blood vessels connected to the other two. They allow to transport blood to smaller, more delicate, or harder to access places in body, like the eyes, but they are very small and fragile, so much blood accumulating due to the bigger blood vessels not working properly causes them to burst. You might not die due to this, but is what will cause the eyes to turn red and can be uncomfortable.

He scared the shit out of me. (Josh did a great job!) I was like… why he looking at her like that? Then his ass attacked damn. Mind you this was while we were reading 1984 and I remember the brainwash/torture scenes. So when they described what Peeta went through and the way he looked. It got me a lil. It’s also interesting bc it really showed Peeta’s physical strength, at least in the movies he seemed to keep it down couple of notches. Not that huge fight or flight to kill someone. But the capital activated that mode for him with repeated torture and beatings and brainwashing from the movie at least. I know in the book ppl said he was strong and displayed more of him.

Despite everything, at least Katniss and Petta were better off than they were at the film's start. Katniss had a lot of good people standing behind her. Boogs protected her from Petta and promised her that he was all right. Primrose provided emotional support and sisterly love. Haymitch tried to let her know that he knew how she felt. Beetee explained the science of it all. Plutarch was the optimistic behind-the-scenes politician who should've been leader instead of Alma.

I wouldn’t say Peeta especially was better off than they were at the start. Peeta was in the more well off side of town, and he wasn’t starving. He ate stale food from the bakery no one wanted but he wasn’t struggling to get by. The worst he felt with us is abusive mother and at a guess emotionally distant brothers but that’s not confirmed. By this point he’s lost his entire family in the bombing of district 12, as well as most of his friends by one which is Delly Cartwright and he had a big group of friends. He was tortured for over a month, his entire reality was warped to the point he can’t tell what’s real or not anymore and has false memories. He can’t even remember stuff about himself, he was turned into a mutt which was his biggest fear. He was also forced to sit and watch someone he knew get their limbs chopped off one by one in the caption until they died and they were an avox so they couldn’t scream and it was to punish peeta himself, even though he didn’t know anything about the rebellion plan. And book wise he also lost a leg, which adds an extra struggle. And even though he gets better, he is never the same after this and still struggles with hijacking flashbacks for the rest of his life… I don’t know if he’s better off at the start of the film at all.

@@Defnotsophia I think Snow actually believed that Katniss had feelings for Peeta during the second games. By turning him against her, Snow firstly wanted to break her spirit and later kill her with Peeta’s hands. Snow himself couldn’t reach Katniss in District 13, but Peeta could because she trusted him. That’s why he let Peeta and other tributes flee unharmed at the end of Part I.
