Yea, one of her best live performance to date. For anyone who don't know, TK's version of this song is the opening for Tokyo Ghoul, an anime which eventually the main character lost himself mentally. The lyrics was also about the main character's psyche breaking, losing himself, to a state where his real self cannot be seen, and eventually asking you, the listener, as someone (supposedly) who knew him, to not forget him. So, for people struggling with mental health, or even anger management, this is a very emotional and powerful song. To see Ado struggle with her breaths, and finally with a *screw the breathing, here come's a fry* and letting herself go and lose control, it is really poetic.

She sang the song so...perfectly...it's so insane. The way she changes her tone, the way she sings alternately low and high, the way she sometimes inserts a "laugh/smile" sound, reflects Tokyo Ghoul or Kaneki so well, his changing psyche over the course of the anime and so much more. ...it's just perfect.

And the way she screamed during the end parts of "Don't forget me, don't forget me, don't forget me" really hits hard if you watch or read TG because it was just scream for help and her live version nailed it.

(17:45) Honestly, the live performance actually frightens me for reasons most might not think of. Personally, I've done unclean/screaming vocals, I've listened to these style of vocals in so many genres I've lost count (but obviously primarily found in various rock and metal genres). I can list more than a dozen vocalists, even those proficient in falsetto.. In the entire time I've listened to these style of vocals (15-16 years), I've never heard someone go from a falsetto to scream that many times in a row (at the speed she did). I honestly didn't think it was possible due to how difficult a process is like that. I'll be here for days explaining the lunacy of this. You have to have serious experience with both styles of vocals, be intimately acquainted with your voice, and the parts of your throat that projects these sounds. Accessing your true folds for mere moments before accessing your false folds and back again, you also can't do this in the same breath even if you tried because the moment you stop the falsetto, you have to breath again to scream. There are a LOT of vocalists who can do singing and screaming, many of them can flip between the two styles, but a lot of the times you'll find them struggle doing so in a live performance. Many of the times they'll have longer portions of singing or screaming to compensate. One could argue it's because they actually don't know what they are doing (a lot of them just say "I just scream" or some milktoast response, then years later either lose their voice or ability to scream, many of them have issues with their lungs or even throat/chord surgeries due to misuse). Ever since I've heard this, I'm still boggling my head around it.. But that's not JUST it.. There's also, THE REST OF ADO.. I'll continue to call it, she's an anomaly. She's going to be a monster if she isn't already, I can't imagine what she's going to be capable of in years from now.

She won’t be around for so long. It’s impossible. She is like a firework 🎆
@mitrikgaduk347
@mitrikgaduk347 5 ай бұрын
@@noahbrown2100 She's been doing this a lot longer than you think. If you think that because it has anything to do with her unclean vocals, take note there's a reason why certain vocalists have been around probably longer than you've been born, still doing it. Times have changed, techniques have been learned, and safety precautions have been discovered to keep the voice as healthy as possible for far longer than we've ever known. So no, it's not "impossible". I could tell you dozens of vocalists that have been around for the last 10-20 years who have pushed there voices to the brink and back. Hell, most famously Lisa did this very thing, and she's considered one of the biggest names in Japan and a legendary artist responsible for the biggest OPs. My point is simple, you have no basis for that argument, nor do you have any proof to back it up. It's an opinion and nothing more.

I felt it so much when you almost started to cry haha, this song just hits home. i think ado's version is especially emotional, because without even understanding the words she's singing it just feels like she's laying bare a piece of her deepest inner self. also the live version is so beautifully imperfect and real, can't help but get teary eyed. plus the musicians are just absolute masters, this must've been an incredible experience to see live. now I'm really excited to hear your version! also i would absolutely love to see how you're learning to bring texture into your voice, i have the same problem with being way to clean!

Hey Kat!! Can't wait for your cover of this song!! I will be so hyped!! Also great reaction, I think that what I appreciate from Ado's live performance the most is how truthful she remained to the emotion in the lyrics, she really sounded desperate and sorrowful, mirroring the duality of a human being taken over by a monster, I think she transmitted that feeling better than most people who covers this song. Love your work since day 1! Hopefully I can be one of your students one day!

i think in the opening part, the emphasis she puts on every vowel makes it hit just slightly more than the original, and makes it feel more emotional, she makes sure you KNOW every word she says, even if you don't know the language, it adds so much to the song, and it's why i prefer Ado's version over the original, especially her live version, it's so haunting and genuinely sends shivers down my spine whenever i hear it

Ado has such a special voice. Not only does she have an amazing technique but she uses emotion in such a way that it changes the structure of the song. Listening to the original version of UNFORGIVEN and the Ado version, you can hear Kazuha's was very normal. But Ado added pain into that part. And she adds so much more pain into this song. Especially the live version. That version made me cry.

when the studio version came out I was so happy, Ado nailed it. I love where she chose to scream and growl - a wonderful rendition. When the live version came out I was in tears by the end... it was like theatre? The strain and tiredness showing through in her voice, the almost random screams dotted about and the frankly harrowing screaming of "wasurenaide wasurenaide" (don't forget me) over and over at the end was, as I said before, absolute theatre she was "unravelling" throughout the song and its hard not to be moved by it

I listened to her interview where she talked about how she sings. She absolutely knows exactly what she is doing, how to warm up her voice, what and when she can and cannot do tricks, how to get distortion, from which voice. She is very trained.

She says that as she imitated the various singing styles of others, she was able to produce a variety of tones. Incidentally, she has never had anyone teach her how to sing. I taught myself how to sing all by myself.

@@user-jm8xv7lh4u Taught One of the composers who worked with her said that she always had a vocal coach with her. up to 18 years old I think she was trained as a metal singer from the beginning (extreme vocals), and everything else she learned by herself, expanding her range of possibilities. Rather, she was not taught traditional singing, which may be right

Hi Kariinka, I love how you break down and analyse singing styles and methods. I know you have done various new Japanese artists like ADO, Yoasobi, and/or Lisa, how about more older artists like Misia, Rebecca and a real old school artist, Hibari Misora. They all have their own style of singing/performance. hope you pick them up in the future!!

this cover is extremely emotional - ado did amazing with it! i'd love the video about her singing style. could you, at some point, listen to hanatan/kikuohana songs such as 'the girl who sold mistfortune' and 'o light' - i really love hanatans vocals and i'm interested in your opinion on it

Ado rolling the R for texture made me realize I would really love to see your reaction to some of the older Visual Kei bands and their vocal techniques. Dir en Grey, Vidoll, and Malice Mizer are a good start.

Just finished the video and wow you really taught me a lot of things that I missed. Great analysis. It gave me a new appreciation for the studio version! But yes, I still think the studio version could have used a similar amount of texture that was shown in the live version! I really love her Tot Musica and Backlight songs.
