All great points ! Unfortunately most of the people that need to see this video, won't. Maybe they need to play this video on every flight before landing !

I'd be happy with this video being shared! But, even if every visitor saw this before coming - I have a feeling not everyone would listen.

Mahalo for mentioning Queens Bath. We are long time residents on the street to Queens Bath and Rescue and firetrucks go down our street 3-5 times a week.

For me Hawaii feels like a another country not a state( not getting into that) but Kauai and those that live there were so kind and welcoming , it is always an honor to be able to be a guest! Ty for all the vids you do! ❤

I have worked many years in the tourism industry in various locations including many years in Alaska. I have been to the Big Island and to Kauai, both times as a tourist. I also travel extensively in South America (off the beaten path)… having worked in tourism and traveling extensively I am not an idiot tourist - yes they exist I see them everywhere and from all cultures and backgrounds. Having said that, I do get targeted on occasion for being blonde/blue - such as getting asked for money in Colombia way more than my father who is dark hair/skin… no biggie. The ONLY place I have been harassed and threatened multiple times (physically threatened as well) was in Kauai. All 3 times I was alone and there were 3-7 locals. One of the times was very close to getting out of hand and my hair and Wiley color were mentioned repeatedly all 3 times. I honestly wish the US government would pull out and give the islands back to the people to run how they see fit. There is a very high percentage of Hawaiians who want to be sovereign and I wish we would move our Pacific fleet and operations to an island where it was welcomed. Let Hawaii be left to itself and make a new 50th state. It is hands down the most racist place I have experienced in my extensive travels and their threats worked - I will never go back and anyone I know who is planning to visit (and who looks like me) I try to dissuade them from doing so. In this sense I guess I am now an ally to the locals!

If people would just Treat others the way you want to BE TREATED, That would solve a lot of this issue, in my Honest Opinion!! I Always try to travel to Hawaii with a ton of ALOHA in my Heart!! I try to be Respectful and Kind! I Tip the waiters HUGE and pick up after myself!! WHY is this SOO HARD for people?!

Shopping at Foodland in Princeville the night before Thanksgiving…. I made it and for that I have given myself the “Stoic of the year” award 😂 Beautiful Island you live on. We enjoyed our stay so much despite the incredibly high surf and 40 miles per hour winds 😍 Thank you for your tips back in November - we had an amazing time!

If you insist on coming in winter, we have a saying here. "Get what get." That means, high surf, strong winds, and plenny rain. Maybe don't visit during monsoon season? 🤷🏽‍♀️

@@Chefmia5150 I actually liked it very much so - a site of Hawaii in general I’ve never seen before - the 2 days driving around watching the waves was amazing. And watching the surfers - even better!

We are making plans to visit the Islands. As breathtakingly gorgeous as I anticipate Hawaii to be when we get there, my personal feelings will be that the most beautiful thing about Hawaii- is the people. If I carry that mindset around with me , and allow it to reflect on how I relate to my surroundings, how I treat everyone around me and comport myself, then it should enhance my Hawaiin experience. I look forward to meeting them as well as learning from them. Mahola!

Everything you said is so true. We have family that has lived on Kauai for years. Even my wife and I get so frustrated with tourists when we visit. People just need to slow down and be respectful . And your beautiful… Just saying.

When I go somewhere I like to immerse myself and the best way to do that is to do the research and also be as respectful as possible - it may not be possible to be fluent in the language but it certainly helps to try your best to know key phrases and greetings. Glad you brought up Queens Bath, I read and heard a lot about how dangerous it was and respected the signage that it was closed. I am sure it is frustrating to locals when tourists are responsible for getting an area closed or restricted.

Hey Raymond! Nice to hear from you! Yes - I agree it's important to try and learn about all the places you visit. It's funny you mentioned the language part because we noticed in France that the French do not like the fact you don't speak French. I thought it was more that they don't like Americans 😂 , but I hear it from a lot of Europeans who visit there as well. Thank you for being respectful about Queen's Bath. It's been a problem for years and I'm not sure why the county can't step in and do more. I believe it's because it's technically a public place since all beaches, etc are? Again, I'm not sure. Unfortunately though - I'm sure they could notify visitors and put signs and videos everywhere, but they'll still go. Residents are trying to see if there is a way to make the people who are rescued foot the bill to see if that would deter people since it's so expensive to get a team out to rescue people, but we'll see if that ever comes to fruition.

Hello, do you happen to know about any rental opportunities in Kauaii for one person? Any help would be appreciated...
@YourHostJ
@YourHostJ Жыл бұрын
Hi! The rental market is very, very tight to be honest. It's hard for many people who already live on island to find housing. The best way to search would be through Craigslist honolulu.craigslist.org/search/kau/apa#search=1~gallery~0~0 Good luck

The tourists keep the business on the island afloat. The locals and residents can do very well on their own with out the year round visitors. There is a saying from the locals “ if you love Kauai, send your friends to Maui”

Hi! It's not so much about tourists going away - that's a bit extreme and - at this time - tourism industry is the number 1 employer on the island so we do need some tourism. But as I mention in the video - Kauai is always full of tourists - year round - and I mention just some tips on how to be respectful when you are here. Thanks for watching ❤️
