Hello Kitty Shinkansen collaborated with JR West Japan (West Japan Railway Company) on June 30, 2018.
It currently operates as KODAMA 840 and 851, making one round trip per day between Hakata Station and Shin-Osaka Station on operating days.

I rode this Shinkansen in 2019! From Osaka to Okayama. I was on student exchange so didn’t book the ride myself and was quite surprised when a pink hello kitty train rolled up the station lol. It wasn’t that different to a regular Shinkansen but it was fun and it’s fun to tell people I rode on a hello kitty train! I didn’t know about all the other stuff on the train though, we weren’t told about that and just stayed in our seats the whole ride.

I'm more impressed by how clean and tidy the train is. This train wouldn't last one week where I live. Over here they're full of graffiti, vandalized and used as trashcans. Nice to see there are countries in the world where you can have nice things.

When I lived in Japan riding the shinkansen's from Tokyo, a day trip in the country somewhere with my favorite thing to do. Absolutely stunning scenery, great little souvenir shops, and can we just talk about the Bento boxes? Delicious! The Hello Kitty theme is absolutely adorable!

Most people should even know this. Hello kitty's parents are Mary and George White and her grandparents are Anthony and Margaret White. Both her family members are married. But here's something people should know. This Sanrio icon wasn't called Hello Kitty. She was called Kitty White. But according to the book, it says that was her nickname. Another fact about her is that she has a boyfriend named Dear Daniel. But even though she's a cat and a girl, here's something interesting about her. Her father gave her a cat for her birthday and her name is Charmy Kitty.

I really do appreciate your attention to detail. I wasn’t previously interested in using this particular train, but the experience seems rather delightful - to the point where my husband and I will be working it into our trip (once the pandemic is less horrifying in the States). Please keep up the good work, as your attention to the details of each space is wonderful. Everything from designs and special treats, to even the lavatory - it really gives the viewer a wonderful idea of what to expect, what you can buy, and a much more well rounded picture of what the particular experience can be.

Thank goodness I am not in Japan to ride this Shinkansen. I would be penniless after not being able to resist buying every single Hello Kitty item for sale in the train gift shop!! Japan is just the best!! 🎀🎀🎀😆😂
