Hi Jonny, I'm totally for having a sports tourer, nothing else for me. Also a nice range like I have on my st1100, that's what I enjoy. It's old though, 20 years older than yours is. I wish you many fun miles and enjoyment on it! Thanks for taking us along. Cheers 👍💪✌

I have a 2013 concours and my friend has an 07 fjr. Power wise the concours is quite a bit more powerful, pulls away in every gear. Plus has 6 gears vs 07-14 fjr with 5 gears. Biggest difference is rev rang. Fjr red lines at 9k while concours revs to 11k. Concours is smother with clutch, suspension, shifting and braking. Seat isn’t super wide like the fjr. I turn rider aids off especially the linked brakes feature. Traction control can’t be turned off even though it has the ‘option’😢 unless you rip out abs which I don’t necessarily like anyways. Heated grips, adjustable wind screen, informative dash modes like outside temp, range, mpg, voltage, tire pressure, storage cubby, charging port are a few creature comforts concours has. I haven’t ridden the newer fjr1300 with six speed yet but I would think those are closer to a concours now.

There’s a guy in Florida called “shoodaben engineering” the reflashes the ecu on these and versys 650 to mellow the jagged edges of the fueling and make more mid range torque

Coming from 8 year "marriage" with a 1000 Vstrom from 2002. Im drolling over this bike so bad, zzr 1400 also. Planning to get one in the future but im still on the fence with them 2, probablly ill get the zzr1400 because i never had a sportbike. But GTR it really hides its weight really good, shaft drive and power is like no other.... Such a underrated bike and low profile one ( to the coppers). Ride safe God bless!

@f.f.s.d.o.a.729420 күн бұрын
Michelin Road 6 GT is a game changer, even staying at 190/50 stock rear. Bike tracks neutrally through turns now: no longer trying to stand up, no longer getting yanked around by ruts. Previous were Pirelli Angel GT 2, which were not right for this bike.

@@JonnyLeeguitarist I started on a cbr600rr and still have it. I ride my concours like a super bike not so much a touring bike. I got a tune and governor delete to really get the most out of it. Saving up for a Yoshi full system for gen 1 zx14 now then re tune after install. Also gonna get the copper dog sport screen for better aroes at top speeds. So far I’ve hit 175 with just a tune and K&N air filter. I weigh 140 lbs but the bike feels light to me. Love the GTR1400!

The fuel range thing is an instantaneous range that only considers your actual current throttle position (fuel lbs/hr being put out by the injector nozzle) along with rpm (injection pulse rate) and fuel remaining in the tank. With each minor change of the throttle, the Calc is effected in a large way. So that whole range screen should have been deleted and never seen. Instead, they only needed the instant and the average economy. The data is in the ECU to look at average economy vs. fuel remaining to extrapolate a rough range estimate based on how the driver has been driving the bike. Why they decided to put this completely useless window as an option is baffling to say the last.
@JonnyLeeguitaristКүн бұрын
Great info ! Yeah I agree it’s baffling

I got the Shoodaben "Mountain Runner Premium" tune late last year. I haven't confirmed the top speed limiter removed (but good to know I have the option if needed). I do like: 1) the extra mid-range torque 2) the option to run 89 octane in a pinch (just stay below 50% throttle) 3) the more precise control over small throttle inputs, making smoother shifts both up and down 4) the efficiency when riding smoothly: I no longer bother switching to ECO mode except maybe when on very slippery surfaces
