Seriously? All that and you didn't mention they no longer make the Concours? 2022 was the last production year. I hope my 2013 lasts forever because I love it.

@bryceady2837 - Came close to buying a 2021 Concours back in 2022 when looking to upgrade from a 2017 Suzuki C50t. Learned Kawasaki was ending its production, and for the things I was looking to upgrade to (cruise control for one) it did not have. Purchased a Kawasaki Vaquero; got the cruise control, ABS, stereo, tad bit more storage space, and a bit more predictable production run.

@@thespadestable they added all the electronics for 22. On a Concours forum some speculate it'll come back on 24-25 but there are a lot of doubters too. I think big engine sport touring is pretty much over.

@@tg8150- I'd moved away from the sport bike riding ages ago so it was never on my radar. Never sweated cruise control and ABS till I got into my 50's. It's not until you need something before you begin looking to see which bike has or doesn't have it.

@@MonstaFreak13I know, it is an amazing machine. I come from a ZZR1100/ZX11 so the ZX14/or Concours 14 was always a bit on my radar. And it looks great in that Kawasaki green. But the FJR gives me plenty of smiles so I'll probably ride it for quite some time. Why do you think the FJR is better if I may ask?

@@RoderickVoordouw its mostly the "feel" i guess i could say. Between the k16, fjr, and the concours, i have to say the concours was the most bland and it just felt too big and not as nimble which is why i only had it for 5 weeks. The one thing i will say about the fj is that with my long legs id hit my knees and shins on the fairings more times than i care to admit.

I got a Concours 14 and he is a chunky boy and not nimble. Still is plenty fun and comfortable but if you want something very nimble then the Concours isn't the bike lol

51 yr old. Just got back into riding and bought an 08 Concours 14. Took my road test on it. I love the comfort and destroying traffic. LOL. Eveyone says don't buy a litre bike for your 1st bike. Technically it's not my 1st bike. Had a 82 Yamaha DT 100 enduro when I was kid.

Just rode my Concourse ... called a GTR1400 in Australia over 1900kms in 2 days with my wife on the back and all our gear. We rode from Adelaide in South Australia to the Phillip Island Motogp in Victoria then back home. We loved every second and despite the weather being hot one day and cold and windy the next, the big Kwak had us well catered for the whole way. Im 37 and also own a 2017 gsxr1000 which is now rarely ridden due to the more practical big girl. But still hard to beat the thrill of a track day on the gsxr. Cheers Puppah Yam. 🍻

I have a 2008 Concours 14. Mine is tuned so I get a little more HP. I have 70K miles on it. It is a comfortable sleeper bike. I am glad someone did a proper video on this bike.

Mine has been flashed and does power wheelies just from holding the throttle open until redline in first gear. No throttle blip or clutch up needed. And the suspension can be dialed in enough that it does not feel big at all. That frame design was borrowed from the old KR500 GP bike, so that's why it feels so planted at any lean angle. Very special bike.

The 2015 update was more significant than a windscreen redesign. Also, the C14 was discontinued in North America two years ago. Lastly, the C14 never had cruise control.

I love my FJR. It’s my fav bike I’ve owned! I’ve had several high power sport bikes but I can honestly say I put down more miles and enjoy riding more on the sport touring bike!

I remember trading in a Vulcan 1600 for a Concours 14 back in 2008. Coming off a low performance cruiser, I lacked the necessary riding skills for the amount of power it made. I quickly learned bikes like these accelerate way faster than they stop. A lesson that nearly ended me on a few occasions. After several close calls (through my own negligence), I traded it back in… just thankful to have survived all that stupidity.

A friend of mine hade the BMW 1200 rs. He traded it for the concourses. He said he didn't need anymore than the 1st 3 gears. He scared himself and got rid of it and quit riding bikes all together. Haaa

Bought that candy green 2015 Connie 14 at 32 years old. Added a full exhaust and Ivan’s tune. It’s an absolute space shuttle and it handles wayyyy better than it should. For a daily ride, I can’t complain.

Had a 2012, rode it for 6 years. Powerband was from off idle to redline. Tune the suspension to what you want, plush tourer, tight canyon bike. Brakes were awesome. Connie was a big girl, but work with her and she'd dance in the curves. The only downside? 700 pounds!!!

Never had a Super Tenere 1200 but my Yamaha mechanic said to me: don't buy it because you'll never ride your fine FJR again.... So probably the ST 1200 is the best all-rounderr 😋

Don't even consider buying a BMW haven't you heard about the problem's associated with those K16 bike's plus the price of service's they are nothing but a money pit they use oil replacement of gearboxes just check some of the reviews the Honda Goldwing is simply the best bike as far as very large touring bikes if you can afford it you will be sorry if you buy a beemer k1600

Thank you for the review! I found a used 86 Concours back in 1989 for $2,500 and used it as my daily commuter in Southern California. What I was really looking for was a K100RS or ST1100, but they were too pricey. It looks like I got the better bike anyway. It was powerful and fun to ride, especially around the Santa Monica Mountains and up the coast to Santa Barbara. I rode it to work on the 101 and 405 freeways (splitting lanes of course) and loved the fairing protection so I could wear my leather bomber jacket and Levi Dockers pants, and I carried my work satchel in the saddlebag. Multi-day traveling was out of the question because of my young family, work and grad school. A buddy of mine owned a custom paint shop, so he painted all the plastic parts with an awesome purple with custom graphics. Only trouble I had was rust in the gas tank. The ergos were not great for my 6’5” self and I remember lots of hand cramping and numbing on longer rides. I had it for 3 years, then decided to sell it and baled on motorcycles for 20 years while I raised kids and took on other hobbies and sports. Got back into bikes in 2012 when I moved to Utah with a used ST1300, and I was disappointed finding it want as good as that Concours. I now own a K1600GTL (selling it) and a Goldwing DCT tour. I rambled on here as a total stranger! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.

Throw a shouldabeen mountain runner flash and you get all the smooth high torque adventures most people need….in comfort. And the wind/rain protection….awesome fairing design. Note linked braking is not present in pre 2010 versions though abs is. Fairing design is cooler on the older ones too

@@f.f.s.d.o.a.7294 Steve recommended the standard Mountain Runner to me because I wanted to be able to run 89 octane and I really didn't need the extra umph, but I was really eyeing that Premium version with the added performance. I have her fitted with the Delkevic DS70 exhaust slip-on sounds great with the DB killer removed.👍

I'm in my 20s and own a 2008 concours 14. I got it because it looked like it could be fun and i was planning on a long road trip in the summer. It was honestly just that it had the features I wanted at the right price that i got it. I took it on that road trip and thoroughly enjoyed it but there are arguably better bikes. I'm 5'5" and it's a big bike, my feet barely touch the ground. It's hard to move around the garage or even low speeds at times. It also gets hot just being a big engine between your knees. I would still buy it again though.

One fact you got wrong, the Concours 14 does not have cruse from the factory. A big downer but I love riding it.

Doesn't have the zx14 motor either. C14 has vvt and shaft drive.

I had a first gen Concours, 2001 model. It was the first bike I ever dropped. Right in my own driveway. Super top-heavy, with the turning radius of a school bus. But, Kawi got the horsepower/gear ratios just right. Overtaking, you didn’t gear down, you simply rolled on the throttle. I just couldn’t stand the engine’s harmonic vibrations; after a 12 hour trip, I couldn’t feel my wrists or my balls for a month. But to this day, I’d love to own a new gen 1400 Concours. Edit: I believe the cost of ownership, in terms of service and maintenance, would be much more reasonable with the Kawasaki than if you bought a Ducati, Triumph or KTM, especially if the maintenance requires the services of the dealership.

I wanted 1 of these since I didn't like the feel of the fjr but in my sport touring exploration I settled on a vfr800 because I really wanted handling and performance over outright power and speed plus the vfr looks awesome and not many know what it is and it gets looks everywhere I ride it always getting questions about it and last but not least that lovely v4 sound

I ride a ninja 1000sx and was down in Austin for F1 this weekend on my motorcycle. It rides great but I have been looking at the concours 14 or FJR for a while. They are heavier and most stable on highways in my opinion. Maneuvering them lane to lane would be difficult but I might buy the concours soon. Thanks for the review

How can you build a clean sheet SPORT TOURING motorcycle IN 2007 and not make Cruise Control STANDARD EQUIPMENT ! ! ! MADNESS ! Even after "2 facelifts" they never bothered on truly updating the damn thing ! Fudge Kawasaki and it's ANCIENT C14 ! Yamaha would take my money, no questions asked.

1. @ 7:36 the bike you are calling a Concours is in fact a ZX14R. 2. The Concours never came with a cruise control. It was always the one major complaint of owmers. 3. The Connie as they are affectionately know. Is a mile cruncher like a Gold Wing with out the weight and as such handles like a sport bike. I've owned the Hayabusa, and a Concours would run circles around it at the track,(not the drag strip), which I'd say my ZX14R was the king of. But throwing saddle bags on the 14R and riding her hard in the canyons or at the track proved to be difficult and down right abusive on your body. The Concours is much more attuned to hard core canyon riding especially 2up.

Won't compare a multistrada because it's in a different class but goes to compare the c14 to a k1600. The r1250rt is the competing bike from bmw that is in the c14 class of bikes. 🤷‍♂️

Shame the bike hasn’t been updated since 07. Desperately needs a refresh with features like cruise control.

Will keep my zx14. Can get hard luggage if I really want to. After a max of 6 hours on a bike is enough for me anyways. Not out there trying to monster mileage in a year. It isn't the miles its the smiles and the big zx14 will split your head in two with the smiles it gives you.

I had two zx12r's and tried a friend's busa... concours definitely shines on 6-8 hour trips.

@@ride1400fast If I ever go with something more "touring" it will be a concours. But I will never be without my zx14. It is such so amazing and really one of those motorbikes that will surprise anybody.

I owned two C14’s over the years. Great bikes but no longer available here in the US either. I’ve since moved onto a 2021 H2SXSE.

Nope! You couldn't pay me to ride that. However, I'd take that over the Honda Winnebago (Goldwing). It really blows my mind when I see guys at the track on em 😂

I have the '11 Concours 14 w/15k miles and when I rode my friend 08 Goldwing for a day the C-14 felt like a used old dirtbike..😢...That's how Grand the GoldWing is..I'm getting one now.!!!!!...

The h2 only makes 160hp over there? I testrode the 1000sx and the h2 (200hp standard in Europe) earlier this year and i gotta say: its the 1000sx for me. Getting mine next year and cant wait

I fit better on the h2 sx but the updated look and tech isn't for me, plus the price is insane, used pre-facelift models are still like $20k

I had Tuono and Stelvio before getting my Connie. The 2 things I hate about it is that there’s no cruise control and the seat is super tall

It ain't no better. FJR is a brilliant bike. Had a Concours 1000, bought a 1400, went back to a 1000.1000 might not be as high tech or as powerful as the 1400..but it's a better bike, An FJR 1300 is on my radar. Better looking than the Concours 1400 IMO..and I'm a I'm awi man.

@@GPz84 I've done my research and i'll be honest , i'm looking into a newer FJR than a Concours overall looks better and feels better after having tried a concours.
